2. BRAINDROP
SCALA, PENTONVILLE RD, N1
Friday 27/2
THERE are some nights that rely on
imported big names, slick marketing
campaigns and abundant corporate branding.
There are others that work from the bottom
up, cultivating a reputation and letting the
vibes spread through word of mouth — nights
that simply bring the rave. Previously taking
place at Jacks in London Bridge, Braindrop is
the latter all the way and boasts a strict ‘zero
tolerance policy’ towards bad vibes and a
consistently eclectic music policy.
Indeed, for tonight’s ‘Ridiculous Bubble of
Rinse’, the Braindrop crew have curated a
line-up that references everything from
Milanese’s dark and mystical electronica to
the rave wobble of Drums of Death.
Elsewhere, The McMash Clan will bring their
indescribable turntable-core to the main
room with breakbeat legends Aquasky, DMC
champ DJ Switch and German d&b fi lthster
Current Value rounding things off.
But far from just a musical circus, you will also
fi nd random Guinness World Record attempts,
extreme unicycle battles and a fully playable
16-bit arcade for those pixelated early
morning moments. Simply unmissable.
