Monadnock AutoLock X3 Baton Series
The AutoLock positive locking baton from Monadnock gets even better.
The new AutoLock® X3™ baton is the next generation of the popular Monadnock® AutoLock baton series. The original AutoLock expandable
baton was the fi rst expandable baton to offer positive- locking technology with a push-button closure. The AutoLock baton combines the advantages of friction lock and positive lock technology. The AutoLock’s high-tech, patented cam ball bearing and locking mechanism offers the security of knowing that the locked baton will stay open while performing striking and jabbing techniques. The AutoLock baton closes with a push of a button, elimi- nating the need to strike the baton on a hard surface. The of- fi cer simply pushes the button on the end cap and closes the segments with his/her other hand. The baton may be opened passively or snapped open in a high-profi le manner with a fl ick of the wrist. The AutoLock baton features rotating shafts to help maintain control of the baton during a struggle. The new AutoLock X3 batons feature an updated cam and stainless-steel ball bearing that provide a reliably consistent locking action and a solid feel in the hand when deployed. The AutoLock X3 also features a new smooth plastic nose on the baton handle for more effi cient holstering and transition- ing from the holster to the hand. The AutoLock X3 baton is also equipped with a new blackened electroless nickel fi n- ish on both the inside and outside of the baton for improved corrosion resistance. “Offi cer safety is always the foremost consideration dur- ing our baton design process,” said Craig Starrett, Category Director for Monadnock. “So, we have incorporated feedback from some of our highly experienced Master Monadnock in- structors and end users to improve our most popular design, while retaining the features and the quality expected from a Monadnock AutoLock baton.”
The AutoLock X3 baton is available with a variety of tips and grips. AutoLock X3 models can be purchased with either a tear-resistant smooth foam or fl uted Super Grip® handle, which offers excellent tear strength and superior retention, and the choice of the Safety Tip®, 3XT Tactical Targeting Tip™, or the Power Safety Tip®.
The Safety Tip and larger Power Safety Tip are urethane tips that eliminate sharp edges and decrease the possibility of sub- ject injury. They are engineered to turn a subject’s pockets in- side out while reducing the risk of the user getting stuck with sharp objects. The Power Safety Tip offers a weight forward

balance that delivers more kinetic energy at impact. The lime green 3XT Tactical Targeting allows the baton tip to be clearly tracked during demonstrations, practice and/or on-duty, helping to improve striking skill. It can be retrofi tted on any AutoLock baton with a Power Safety Tip. The AutoLock X3 series is additionally offered with Monad- nock’s patented Wedge Cap™. The Wedge Cap design fea- tures a tapered end cap that provides for enhanced retention and ease of draw. The Wedge Cap can also be purchased sepa- rately as an accessory for any AutoLock baton. The Wedge Cap offers the advantages of the Hindi Baton Cap™ in a more compact design.
All positive lock batons, including the AutoLock X3, have slight play when extended, including the AutoLock. This is normal and does not affect the performance of the baton. The play is necessary for the locking mechanism to function. Con- siderable thought went into the design and engineering of the AutoLock X3 baton. It is an exceptionally well-made and ro- bust baton that improves upon the proven AutoLock design. The 21-inch and 22-inch AutoLock X3 batons have been available for some time, and the recently released versions are the AutoLock X3 series are 16-inch, 18-inch, and 26- inch length batons.
