erative’s board of directors, management, and staff gathered October 28 to mark a special occasion. The organization held a ceremonial ground-breaking for its new headquarters facil- ity. The project is taking place just off exit 25 on the east side of I-40 in Sayre. Oklahoma City-based Wynn Construction Company has been selected as general contractor.

At the event, NFEC General Manager Scott Copeland spoke about the new building project. “The current location has served us well for more than 75 years, but it can no longer effectively meet the needs of the coopera- tive. After many years of exami- nation, we believe now is the best time to undergo this much needed project,” Copeland said. Growth has driven the need for an improved, larger facility.


When the current office building was added to the headquarter facilities in 1977, the coopera- tive served approximately 4,500 meters and had 25 employees. Today NFEC serves over 6,900 meters and has 40 employees. In that same period, system demand has risen by 400% and kiloWatt hours sold has increased by 359%.
