bungalow at the Hotel Manava Beach Resort and Spa Moorea. We love it because it lets you experience the best of French Polynesia from the boat as well as the hotel experience pioneered on these islands. The trip departs from Papeete and ends in Moorea (but Windstar can arrange round-trip airfare from Los Angeles). On this cruise you’ll explore six of Tahiti’s most beautiful islands, including Bora Bora, Huahine, Raiatea, and Taha’a.

Ships to Watch: Vessels Debuting in 2024
We mentioned some of the newest ships on the high seas in our luxury cruise section, but these companies are also debuting exciting vessels for the winter season.
SUN PRINCESS Princess Cruises will
debut the fi rst in its Sphere class ships, the Sun Princess, on Feb. 8, 2024. The largest in the Princess fl eet, it will have more balcony cabins than any other ship. The Sun will spend her inaugural season in the Mediterranean, beginning with seven- and 10-day sailings from Barcelona or Rome. In September 2024, the Sun Princess is set to cross the Atlantic and will be homeported in Fort Lauderdale, where she will spend the Caribbean season.
ICON OF THE SEAS When Royal Caribbean’s
newest vessel, Icon of the Seas, sets sail in January
2024, it will be the world’s largest cruise ship, with a capacity for 7,600 guests and 2,350 crew members. It will have 20 total decks, eight neighborhoods, seven pools, and what Royal Caribbean is describing as six “record-breaking waterslides.” The ship also boasts 24 stateroom choices, many with ocean views. Anchored in Miami, Icon of the Seas will sail seven-night Eastern and Western Caribbean holidays this winter. Expect this to be a popular ship for families.
CELEBRITY ASCENT The last of Celebrity’s
popular Edge series ships, Celebrity Ascent makes its debut in December. If you’re alone, you’ll love

this new ship’s infi nite balcony cabins, designed specifi cally for solo travelers. You can also go all out and book the Edge Villas, which come with private plunge pools.
CARNIVAL JUBILEE Carnival introduces its
biggest ship in December, when the Carnival Jubilee sets sail. Docked in Galveston, Texas, this boat includes a roller coaster, an oversized Guy’s Burger Joint, and a two- story RedFrog Tiki Bar. There are also six themed neighborhoods onboard. This is going to be a great ship for multigenerational cruises.
CRUISING WITH THE GRANDKIDS: ROYAL CARIBBEAN VS. DISNEY The two most kid-
focused cruise lines are Royal Caribbean and Disney. Both have pros and cons. Here, we break down the diff erences. Important! Before You Leave: If you are taking the grandkids on a cruise without your children in
tow, you’ll need to make sure to get an original notarized letter signed by at least one of the child’s parents or legal guardians granting you permission. You’ll have to present this letter, along with a valid passport and visa or the child’s birth certifi cate (original or notarized copy), to offi cials when you board the ship. If you are fl ying, you’ll also need these documents.
ROYAL CARIBBEAN Royal Caribbean is
great for aff ordable family cruises and very popular with multigenerational travelers. Look for cruises on the line’s Oasis class ships, including Wonder of the Seas, Symphony of the Seas, and Harmony of the Seas. All three feature lots of amenities for kids of all ages. There are zip- lines, skydiving simulators, 10-story waterslides, FlowRider surf simulators, and 3D theaters. When it sets sail in
January 2024, the new Icon of the Seas will be another top choice. Royal
