New Mountains platform boosts spectroscopy and module options

Digital Surf has introduced Mountains 9, a new version of its software platform for image and surface analysis in microscopy and metrology. The version comes with MountainsSpectral, for correlation and spectroscopy analysis, as well as several new optional modules, file formats and features. Users of 2D and 3D profilometry, scanning electron microscopy, scanning probe microscopy and spectroscopy, working in a wide range of application fields, will discover a wealth of new capabilities for their image and surface analysis.

The addition of surface texture

parameters on freeform surfaces now makes it possible to calculate roughness on any type of non-planar part, even on very complex shapes. New spectral analysis features provide solutions for correlative microscopy and the combining of chemical mapping and microscopic surface texture. Together, full-3D views and spectral mapping bring further benefits: multi-channel voxel cubes and I(V) spectroscopy data cubes can now be visualised and analysed. Three new modules also make their debut in this release: shell topography, bringing surface texture analysis to freeform surfaces (shells); chemical cubes, for the visualisation and analysis of multi- channel cubes of compositional data; and IV spectroscopy, for SPM investigation of electrical surface properties, including 3D visualisation of data cubes and individual IV curve analysis (including CITS). www.digitalsurf.com

LENSES AND OPTICS A1-series of reflective beam expanders

Optical Surfaces has introduced a series of reflective beam expanders with an output clear aperture of 75mm and a selection of magnifications, which are designed for researchers requiring high performance and ease of use. Benefiting from a high throughput off-axis design and new assembly technique – the new A1-series delivers high performance at a market competitive price, and is available on short delivery times. Available in 3.5x, 5x, 7.5x and 10x fixed magnification configurations – the reflective beam expanders are designed to be easy to use and to provide accurate, unobstructed expansion of any collimated input light source. They are portable and can be used without the need for internal re-alignment.

CoreTechnologie soſtware for Photocentric 3D printers

CoreTechnologie has developed a version of its 3D printing software specifically for Photocentric 3D printing machines and processes. In the future, the tool will be delivered with the British firm’s printers. CoreTechnologie’s software is directly

connected to the Photocentric printers via an API interface, so all common CAD formats, as well as STL models, are seamlessly sent from the 3D software to the Photocentric printers. A new module creates support structures specifically for the Photocentric machines and

for the SLA process, which is easy to use and enables a high level of automation. In addition, the user can modify the support structures and quickly adapt them to specific requirements. In combination with the Photocentric

machines, which can create particularly fine surface structures, the texture module of the CoreTechnologie software delivers impressive results. Users choose from 5,000 predefined textures or apply their own patterns to 3D models to create revolutionary component designs in high quality and resolution. www.coretechnologie.com www.photocentricgroup.com

The series incorporates high precision

off-axis mirrors which have constant focal lengths, regardless of the wavelength of light being focused. As a consequence, unlike lens-based beam expanders, they can be used with collimated polychromatic light without the need of any fine focus adjustment. www.optisurf.com
