SENSORS AND DETECTORS Photoreceiver series HBPR
Laser Components has introduced Femto’s balanced photoreceiver series HBPR, a low- noise balanced photoreceiver for detecting the smallest optical difference from DC up to 500MHz. Smaller signals can be detected if the common-mode intensity noise can be reduced, as seen with laser sources, for example. Using two matched photodiodes, creating the highest possible common-mode rejection ratio, both observing the same source, one signal is subtracted from the other, and the result fed into a low-noise transimpedance amplifier. High rep-rate laser pulses with rapidly changing signal shapes – as in quantum state tomography for example – can be detected.
Available as free space or in fibre-
coupled formats, these high-speed balanced photoreceivers (HBPR) have switchable gain and bandwidth, switchable AC/DC coupling and broad mechanical compatibility with common optical accessories.

POSITIONING EQUIPMENT
A-142 nano-positioning stage portable laser interlock monitor
PI’s air-bearing motion product line has expanded to include the A-142 compact nano-positioning and linear alignment stage, designed with a voice coil motor and frictionless air bearing slide for highly repeatable motion with excellent accuracy. Cleanroom-compatible, this non- contact miniature linear slide is suited for applications such as wafer inspection, scanning/metrology, fibre alignment, laser micromachining and marking, autofocusing and genome sequencing. This low-profile nanopositioning stage
BXP-25E uncooled IR detect
Opto Diode has introduced a single-channel, uncooled infrared (IR) detector, the BXP-25E. Designed for fire and flame detection, the high-performance, lead selenide (PbSe) detector offers peak sensitivity between 3.6 and 3.8μm and is available in a TO5 package with a flat sapphire window. The 4mm2 active area device features responsivity of 7.5 x 103V/W (minimum), with typical
responsivity of 1.5 x 104V/W. Response time is typically 2μsec. Detectivity (D*) is typically 2 x 1010, and resistance ranges from 0.7 to 2.5MOhms. Absolute ratings for storage and operating temperatures are -40 to +85°C. The detector is part of Opto Diode’s extensive IR detectors, B series family of durable,
long-life products. The reliable, single-channel detectors are used in gas analysis for medical and industrial tasks, emissions monitoring, spectroscopy, thermal imaging, process control systems and defence/security applications.

(27mm/1.1inch high) is maintenance free, and thanks to its non-particle generating drive and guiding principle, is cleanroom compatible. It delivers 10mm (0.4 inch) of hysteresis-free linear travel of its 75 x 80mm (≈ 3 x 3¼ inch) moving platform, while supporting up to 3kg (6.6lbs) loads. The air-bearing guide guarantees
straightness of 100nm and flatness of 0.5μm. High motion performance is achieved with an integrated voice-coil motor that achieves a maximum velocity of 450mm/s and acceleration of 20m/sec2, a great advantage in dynamic scanning and positioning applications. Greater flexibility for alignment and
metrology operations in Z is achieved with an optional pneumatic counterbalance to allow vertical mounting without a loss of motor performance. The A-142 can be operated as a standalone nanopositioning device, but for multi-axis motion requirements, combinations and integration into XY and XYZ assemblies are also available.
