INDIGO TELECOM’S 4SITE ADDITION EXPANDS NETWORK DESIGN SKILLS

Network design consultancy 4site has been acquired by Indigo Telecom Group. Te acquisition is designed to


complement Indigo’s capability in the supply of multi-vendor telecom support services by adding 4site’s design and planning expertise in delivering specialist fibre, and mobile wireless services. Te agreement creates a combined business with an annual turnover


in excess of £50m with 300+ employees across the UK, Ireland, France, Germany and Singapore. Indigo designs, installs and


maintains international telecom and data networks that enable customers to deliver fixed line, broadband, mobile and other data services to end users. 4site is a specialist provider of mobile wireless and fibre services, including the survey, planning,

ALTICE SUBSIDIARY BUYS COVAGE TO EXPAND FOOTPRINT


Altice Europe’s French subsidiary, SFR FTTH and its consortium of financial investors has entered into an exclusivity agreement with Cube Infrastructure Fund and Partners Group to acquire 100 per cent of wholesale operator Covage. Te deal is worth €1bn. Covage has a total of 2.4 million


European homes to be passed, including 0.8 million already built. Tese will be added to SFR FTTH’s footprint of more than 5.4 million secured homes to be passed – including 1.7 million homes built. When it becomes part of SFR FTTH, there will be around 8 million secured homes to be passed – including 2.5 million already built. Te acquisition should help SFR FTTH continue its strategy of expanding its footprint. Patrick Drahi, founder of Altice,


said: ‘With this transaction, we bring on board excellent local relationships.’ Te transaction should close in the first half of 2020.


LUMENTUM SELLS OPTICAL COMPONENT LINES TO AFR


Lumentum has entered into an agreement with passive optical component supplier, Advanced Fiber Resources (AFR) where the later will acquire certain assets from the former. Te assets are associated


with some of Lumentum’s lithium niobate-based optical component product lines that are manufactured at the company’s San Donato, Italy site. Tese are part of the discontinued telecom and datacom product lines. Beck Mason, senior vice


president and general manager, telecom transmission at Lumentum said: ‘Tis transaction is a good outcome for all stakeholders as Lumentum’s telecom transmission product strategy is now focused on indium phosphide photonic integrated circuit-based

components and modules, and we planned to ramp down lithium niobate operations in San Donato.’ XL Wang, AFR’s chairman


and chief executive officer, said: ‘With this acquisition, AFR is excited to expand its market opportunities and capabilities to include lithiumn niobate-based products for the communications and sensing markets. We believe with our strengths in cost-effective high-volume manufacturing we are well positioned to address customer needs for lithium niobate products in our addressable markets.’ Te transaction is subject


to certain customary closing conditions. It is expected to close early in Lumentum’s third quarter of this year.
