Keyline Has The Golden Touch After Securing Back-To-Back

Awards Keyline, the UK’s leading

specialist supplier of civils and drainage solutions, has cemented its position as one of the industry’s health and safety champions after winning yet another top award. The company has received a gold RoSPA Occupational Health and Safety Award for the second year in a row. The organisation secured the award after driving a number of significant health

and safety improvements across the business. This included the introduction of a mental wellbeing initiative for all Branch Managers, reducing the risk of pedestrian and vehicle impact at higher risk depots, and the company’s investment in special hydraulic lifting attachments. The equipment is used to reduce lifting and handling, and Keyline’s health and safety team has worked closely with front line colleagues to ensure they were able to benefit from this investment. As a result, Keyline has now reduced the volume of materials hand-balled by its yard-based colleagues by 78% since 2014. Richard Byrne, Safety Director at Keyline, said: “It is a fantastic achievement to

secure a gold RoSPA award on one single occasion, let alone in back-to-back years. A tremendous amount of hard work and dedication has gone towards defining and implementing our industry-leading health and safety strategy.” Julia Small, RoSPA’s Head of Awards and Events, said: “The RoSPA Awards are

the most prestigious in the world of occupational health and safety, and held in high regard around the world, as winning one demonstrates an organisation’s commitment to maintaining an excellent health and safety record. Achieving the standard required is no mean feat.”

STAHLWILLE, the tool specialist

from Wuppertal, Germany STAHLWILLE, the tool specialist from Wuppertal, Germany, has been selected as one of the 100 most innovative small and medium-sized companies (SMEs) in Germany. TOP 100 is the only competition in Germany that assesses a company’s

approach to innovation management, and is recognised as being among the most important awards for innovative SMEs. STAHLWILLE can look back over more than 150 years of development and

manufacture of high-quality handtools, and is recognised by professionals for its outstanding reputation in the field of torque technology. Members of the jury were particularly impressed by the way STAHLWILLE has

placed innovation at the core of its organisational processes. The fields of product development, product management and marketing were unified into one division, and the innovation strategy - code name Nordstern (North Star) - was implemented jointly across all levels of the business. At the same time, a decision was taken to give the torque technology section

the highest priority to address the increasing demand for electronic logging and quality assurance capabilities. As part of this approach, STAHLWILLE has considerably expanded its range of electronic-logging torque products, which has simplified complex processes in production and quality assurance. And for 2017 STAHLWILLE has a further set of innovations lined up, with their sights set firmly on Industry 4.0. They are already developing products which can be easily integrated into complex IT systems and which can communicate with each other and with a central control station. The first of these products for the field of torque technology are already in the pipeline. http://www.stahlwille.co.uk/ Winfried Czilwa receiving the Top 100 award on behalf of Stahlwille

No SUNDAY Dread For

Trades & Construction Workers SUNDAY night dread does not exist for trades and construction workers, as 76% claim to either ‘love’ or ‘really like’ their jobs. A survey of 1,220 workers, commissioned to mark the launch of the One4all

Spotlight Awards, has revealed almost 1 in 3 (30%) of workers in the trades and construction sector enjoy their job so much that they plan to be with the company they are currently working for “for the foreseeable future.” And a small portion of trades and construction workers (13%) like where they

work so much that they hope to be in their existing company for the rest of their working life. Half (50%) of trades and construction workers said they would be happy to

work longer hours than they are contracted for, while a similar number (41%) would take on more responsibility than their job role requires. However, just 11% said they would be willing to take a pay cut if it meant they

could stay in their current role. Declan Byrne, UK managing director at One4all Rewards, said: “It’s great to

see how many trades and construction workers truly enjoy their jobs. “Employers in the trades and construction sector need to take this statistic

seriously - while it is fantastic that the majority enjoy their jobs, there is still 24% of the trades and construction work force that can’t say this is true, and these people need their morale and happiness at work to be addressed.” The One4all Spotlight Awards is a free to enter awards scheme that recognises

the best employees in 20 different categories, including Employee of the Year awards across 14 industries.

Wiha – 25 years of success with the

if DESIGN AWARD Wiha tools deliver a design concept based on functional design and advanced innovative thinking. At least, that’s what the jury of the independent IF DESIGN Award thinks! Based in the Black Forest, this hand-tool manufacturer has already notched up a grand total of 20 awards. Although a few things may remain the same, Wiha believes much has changed over the last 25 years. The first award winners in Wiha’s if AWARD success story, starting in 1992,

were just the beginning, and included products such as the Dynamic screwdriver, the ClapStar retractable L-key holder and the Safety 2000 safety hammer. Numerous innovations in the hand-tool segment have followed since then. “As you would expect, every product development is influenced by experience

from the past. Scientific and research findings and keen creative spirit in our development team also play a role. This all means that our product developments have not only kept up with the times, but have also managed to set trends,” explains Wilhelm Hahn, today’s CEO and owner of the company. Honoured this year, the magazine bit-holder LiftUp 26one® is the latest award

winner to join the other 19 prize-winning innovations from the last 25 years. This hand tool really makes work easier thanks to its user-oriented product features and characteristics. With a bit holder and a total of 13 double bits in its handle, it can provide 26 different types of screw fastening, thus ensuring greater efficiency whilst reducing weight. Hahn continues, “A competitive

mindset and a strong developer spirit are firmly anchored in Wiha’s corporate culture. Participating in competitions such as the DESIGN AWARD gives us the opportunity to stand out, and to receive an impartial review of our own innovative strength.
