5 OF THE BEST Welsh Food Boxes
Ready-to-make food and drink boxes were already on the rise before we were all forced indoors. And with restaurants and cafes similarly hunkered down to weather the storm, the growing trend became a lifeline for some to bring money in - and continue to in a post-pandemic(ish) world. For the big business adverse, why not shop local, from home?

Over the course of four days and three nights, this culinary tailored retreat will begin each day with a hearty breakfast – delivered right to your own Geodome – before taking guests foraging for edible plants and other naturally occurring treats, as well as absorbing the sights and sounds of the coastal park in the company of an expert; canoeing along the Cleddau River Estuary, crafting and sampling Welsh gin, and finally, spending the evening under the stars in a wood- fired hot tub.
Bar 44 To Publish Their First Book
A 10-course fine-dining menu at ANNWN, its courses dependant on seasonal availability, is undoubtedly the highlight of the whole thing. True to the spirit of foraging culture, the restaurant aims to spotlight Wales’ rich ecology by giving visitors a literal taste of it. And given the site’s proximity to the Cleddau, this is definitely the place to be for Welsh seafood lovers.
For almost 20 years, Bar 44 has been bringing authentic Spanish dishes, and Spanish culture, to south Wales and the West Country. Now, founders Tom and Owen Morgan are going one step further, bringing tapas into British homes with their first ever book, Bar 44: Tapas Y Copas. Part recipe book, part autobiographical tour through the brothers’ passion for Spanish cuisine and forward-thinking journey into the hot and clammy restaurant business – merging bars and restaurants was not the done thing in the early 00s – Tapas Y Copas may be that rare cookbook you’ll want to pair with an afternoon of reading, as well as a go-to for dinner parties. The book will also be launched in each of Bar 44’s three branches: Tue 19 Oct in Cardiff, Wed 20 Oct in Penarth and Thurs 4 Nov in Bristol.
