Artisan Managing Director, Michael Eyres, said: “T is is the fi rst

development of its kind in the area off ering freehold units of this size. Despite the obvious impact of COVID-19 on the economy, it’s encour- aging to see such a diverse group of growing businesses moving into the park, all of whom will contribute greatly to both the economy and the local community.” T e units have been fi tted out for a variety of light industrial and

commercial uses that fall within the B1 planning class for those who require predominantly offi ce accommodation. Michael Eyres believes that the success of Marston Park and its new

tenants refl ects a local economy that is ready to bounce back as and when normality begins to return and indeed some of the tenants have already moved into their new premises. T ose moving into Marston Park range from a purpose-built new

children’s day nursery in the largest unit, to a fi re safety company, a veterinary surgery and several technology businesses. Location was key for Les Millard, principal of TEC Fire and Security

Ltd. who said: “Marston Park is midway between Bedford and Milton Keynes, which are areas we cover.” T e company had considered another development in Bedford, but

it was more of an industrial park, whereas TEC wanted predominantly offi ce space. Les continued: “We have ample parking spaces with the unit, which will allow us to take on more staff as we expand and we asked Artisan to make provision for an electric charging point, as we are looking at purchasing an electric vehicle. T ey were most helpful in arranging this for us.” Guy Carter is a senior partner with Medivet, the veterinary partner- ship with over 300 practices nationwide, which operates a regional hub and spoke system consisting of a 24-hour hospital surrounded by up to 20 day clinics. He said: “Marston is an ideal location for us as it is based in the centre of a small community. Our clinics are all about developing a strong relationship with local clients. T e clinic will include a theatre and an X-ray room. Marston is an exciting opportunity for us.” Elsewhere on the park is EMT Ltd. a growing technology company

specialising in the testing and measurement of greenhouse gas emis- sions, particularly the controversial SF6 gas widely used as an electrical insulator.

ALL THINGS BUSINESS 27

“Although we are in a niche market it is, unsur-

prisingly, a growing one,” said EMT’s Managing Director, Neil Kane. “The premises at Marston Business Park are additional to our existing loca- tions. We also have offi ces in the USA, Holland and China, but Marston will be our global headquarters from where we will run our sales and marketing and quality control operations as well as providing conference and training facilities.” Other businesses on the new park include and

automotive technology company, accountancy services and a supplier of medical lasers. Construction and fi tting out of all 14 business units is all but complete and will soon see Marston Business Park fully occupied as sale has now been completed on twelve units with solicitors instructed on the fi nal two.
