“We pretty much worked from home from


the week before the government announced the fi rst lockdown. We had a continuity plan in place anyway that we used for snow days, everything was in the cloud and the team just had to jump on their laptops and work from wherever they were. “But that wasn’t going to work long term.


Particularly the more junior engineers need someone around them to answer questions and give them support when they need it. Teams meetings are great, but it’s the day-to-day help and support you just can’t get from working remotely. “The print management team moving into


the same building now has also meant new opportunities through fi nding synergy between the two sets of customers, it’s created more business and it’s made for a smoother operation. “Hopefully, now that they have come back into


the offi ce, we’ve provided the team with a brand new environment that makes them keen to come to work. And we’ve started doing things a little bit diff ently, too, we stayed on one evening to watch the football during the Euros and we’ve had a barbecue with an adult-size bouncy castle – little things, but we want to do more of that. “It’s all about creating a good place to work and enhancing employee satisfaction which will in turn mean that they are happier and more productive.”
