Phil Drage Go to waste (p28)


Phil is an associate trainer at the FPA and has industrial experience in communications and electrical controls, as well as 12 years’ retained


fi refi ghter cover. He also has several years’ experience helping roll out fi re safety training, becoming full time industrial fire safety training officer for Northamptonshire FRS, before joining the FPA in 2011.


Dominic Louks Viewpoint (p1)


Dominic became head of subscription services in August 2017, responsible for FPA and RISCAuthority memberships.


Previously, he worked as RISCAuthority manager and FPA marketing executive, with over 15 years’ marketing and communications experience in fi re and security. He sits currently on the RISCAuthority members forum and executive committee, FSF and BAFE marketing groups and the Fire and Rescue Statistics User Group.

Laura is a health and safety regulatory solicitor based in London. As an experienced criminal litigator and


Magistrates’ Court advocate, who regularly advises businesses on fi re safety, health and safety and food safety, she has represented businesses in fi re safety prosecutions across a variety of sectors including care homes, construction, hospitality and manufacturing.

Howard joined the FPA in 1992 as a training/information officer. Now principal consultant, he is involved in a wide


range of projects on fire safety and risk management, and convenes the RISCAuthority Risk Control Working Group.


Nick Ross Talking point (p32)


Nick Ross is an international conference chairman and for more than 30 years he was one of Britain’s best


known broadcasters. Although he still contributes to radio and TV journalism, he is now heavily committed to charities and campaigns. He has also written and directed award winning documentaries, has been a lobby correspondent, and is one of the most highly regarded conference moderators, working for governments and companies around the world.

Robert Stacey Simulating command (p24)


Robert is a project offi cer in the learning and development department at Northumberland FRS. A member of


the Wildfire Team, he is responsible for assisting in the development and delivery of wildfi re training, along with designing and implementing local through to international partnership projects. Robert is also secretary of the multi agency stakeholder England and Wales Wildfi re Forum and Northumberland Fire Group.


Paul Slaven Community response (p16)


Paul Slaven has been public relations offi cer for Devon and Somerset FRS for 14 years. Previously, he worked


as a reporter for local newspapers including Exeter Express & Echo, before joining Devon and Cornwall Police as public relations offi cer. During the Somerset floods, Paul worked with colleagues to provide information to the media and public, and liaised with partner agencies as part of a multi agency approach to communications.


Jan Wassall On the Summit (p36)


Jan has been production editor of F&RM for eight years, including two stints as editor. She has also been


editor of the CFOA National Resilience Team. Qualifi ed in languages and heritage management, she was a government reporter analyst before moving to a career in journalism across a range of publications.


Peter White Resilience and repair (p20)


Peter White is communications manager at BRE. Originally qualifi ed as a chemical engineer and with 24


years’ experience at BRE, Peter closely followed the project to develop the fl ood repair demonstration home, talking with each of the teams working on the house whilst capturing each stage in a series of record photographs.
