Protection systems Minimal disruption


Minimal disruption to operations is one of the main reasons many end users have migrated toward wireless fire detection systems, especially when considering upgrades or extensions. For example, installing additional detection devices in a care home environment housing vulnerable occupants can be done without the need to vacate the building, since wireless devices can be installed quickly and with the minimum of disturbance.


Aesthetic installations


One of the earliest applications of wireless detection was in heritage buildings, due to the difficulty of installing cabling as a result of the unique fabric and construction of the building. Buildings such as castles and stately homes present many difficulties for the fire system designer and installer, including lack of accessible cable routes, restrictions on installation activities such as drilling of the fabric of the building, and maintaining the building aesthetics. Wireless detection is an ideal solution in these situations.


Flexible deployment


Wireless detection is flexible and lends itself to temporary installations on, for instance, construction sites. During building construction, the risk of a fire may increase due to building activities taking place. A wireless detection system can help reduce this risk, as well as provide protection for those working on the building and for the building structure itself. In addition, wireless systems are capable of growing and expanding as building work progresses, even in temporary installations.


Easy reconfiguration


Lastly, one of the key benefits of a wireless system is the ease of reconfiguration of the system to reflect the changing use of a building. When an additional building or floor needs to be added or existing office partitions are relocated, it takes a matter of minutes to relocate detectors. Wireless technology has come a long way since
