New solutions for an active nation is the theme for this year’s forum, which brings together professionals responsible for developing sport, leisure and physical activity facilities.


The forum’s CPD-certified seminar programme


shares the latest thinking and best practice in physical activity facilities including the latest innovations in sport, play, recreation and leisure. This year’s speakers include:


NOW in its fourth year, the physical activity facilities forum has been developed to meet the needs of those delivering physical activity facilities in sport, leisure, recreation and play. Each year the event brings together operators,


local authorities, school leaders, project managers, architects, contractors and other senior level professionals looking to enhance their schemes and improve their supply chain. Over one and a half days, delegates benefit


from a tailored schedule of one to one meetings in a professional yet informal environment. Away from day to day distractions, the immersive nature of the event allows delegates to focus on the meeting and networking activities leading to better, more memorable and meaningful relationships.


• Peter Moore OBE, chairman of leisure & Gavin Woodhouse, chairman, Northern Powerhouse Developments - Peter and Gavin will talk about their plans for Afan Valley Adventure Resort, which will combine the appeal of Center Parcs with an adrenaline-filled active lifestyle resort to deliver both sheer enjoyment and physical wellbeing.


• John Walker, architect, Walker Simpson Architects & Locklynne Hall, business director, LiveWire - John and Locklynne will look at how we can support an ageing population through dementia-friendly facilities with a review of the new Great Sankey Neighbourhood Hub, which aims to be the first project to receive the University of Stirling’s Gold Accreditation for a Dementia-Inclusive Public Building.


• Mark Learnihan, partnership director, Active Nation & Andy Gil, founder, Ethics Leisure - Mark and Andy will explore the rapid growth of Obstacle Course Racing as a new and exciting way to increase physical activity, particularly appealing to the young, old and inactive.


• Irina Korneychuk, project leader, Faulkner Browns - Irina talks about how design can shape the student experience through enhanced physical and mental health and wellbeing, a key consideration behind the design of the new University of Portsmouth sports building.


• Councillor Olly Monk, Newquay Town Council - Olly will share the lessons learned in creating an exciting new skatepark for Newquay; one that has been designed to meet the needs of the local wheeled sports community. To register as a project delegate,
