Work on Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park is


the Chinese Olympic Committee, the China Institute of Sport Science and the Vereniging Sport en Gemeenten - all keen to learn from Sheffield’s health and wellbeing initiative, and find out how they can replicate the project in their own cities. The Japanese ambassador to the UK also


visited Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park as part of a two-day fact-finding experience ahead of the Olympic and Paralympic Games Tokyo 2020, and early this year the site hosted a visit from 20 visiting Department for International Trade ambassadors from around the world including Japan, China, India, Europe, and South America. Most recently, Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park


hosted a visit from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office International Leaders Programme. The delegation comprised of

Adopting a collaborative approach between public sector, private sector and academia has been key to delivering the project which is replacing a loss- making 28,000-seater stadium with a 10,000- capacity stadium, 3,000-seater basketball arena, 1,200 capacity school, 600 capacity University Technical College, two research centres, a hotel and 70,000sq ft of offices. “Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park is a


completely unique British project in the Sheffield City Region which is attracting interest from all over the world,” says Caborn. “Six years on from London 2012, we’re proud


to demonstrate such a lasting legacy from the Olympic and Paralympic Games.”
