– acting as a hothouse of innovation, bringing together those who make apps, activity loggers, sports equipment, orthotics and clinical devices.

Opening in 2019, the centre is a key project

for the Sheffield City Region, helping to create spin-off companies and generating investment within the emerging healthcare sector. The Park is also open to the general public to use the general amenities of run routes, cycle paths and cricket on the Don Valley Bowl as well as the enhanced facilities of a community stadium and basketball arena.

economic impact To date, £42m investment has been made from the public sector. When the site of the Don Valley Stadium is completed, private sector investment will total at least £40m. The next stage of the development onto adjoining land will require £100m of public sector funding into research centres, infrastructure works and enabling works, and this will deliver a further £150m of private sector investment.

It’s estimated that every £1 of public investment will generate around £14.50 towards the economy by 2042. This will be complimented by £1.7bn in GVA benefits to the economy by 2042, 3,465 full time jobs, including 348 professional roles and up to 1,340 construction-related jobs. Over the next two years, a Park Community

Arena is set to open for use by Oasis Academy Don Valley, UTC Sheffield, the local community and Sheffield Sharks Basketball. The multi- purpose indoor facility will have three courts and seating for up to 2,500 spectators. There will also be a stadium with offices,

leisure and retail opportunities, a hotel and further offices and laboratories set to open in 2019/2020 for research partners. The rapidly expanding Sheffield Olympic

Legacy Park includes proposals for two further world-class research and innovation centres in healthcare - the Centre for Child Health Technology (CCHT) led by Sheffield Children’s Hospital and the Orthopaedic and Rehabilitation Research and Innovation Centre

To be completed: • Advanced Wellbeing Research Centre

• Orthopaedic and Rehabilitation Research and Innovation Centre • Centre for Child Health Technology • Basketball Arena • Stadium Facilities • Hotel • Offices and Laboratories

(ORRIC) led by Sheffield Teaching Hospitals. Both initiatives are designed to encourage investment, new companies and jobs as part of the Northern Powerhouse, while promoting collaboration between the public and private sectors to improve public health and reduce costs to the NHS.

international recognition Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park has been recognised by a string of international visitors, including delegates representing Kawasaki City, the Tokyo Chamber of Commerce and Industry,
