The councils of the Society of Maritime Industries represent our specialist business sectors.


n THE BOARD OF THE SOCIETY OF MARITIME INDUSTRIES has the responsibility, on behalf of the Society’s membership, for the good governance of the organization as a not‐for‐profit company limited by guarantee and in particular for approving the budgets, ensuring that sound financial accounting is observed and that the accounts are independently externally audited annually.

n THE CMG COUNCIL supports the interests of member companies in the marine equipment and services industries which are suppliers of equipment and services to all types of merchant ships and craft, including cargo vessels, container ships, tankers, bulkers, fishing boats, LPGs, LNGs, FPSOs, rigs, specialist ships, passenger/car ferries, ro‐ros, fast ships, superyachts and cruise liners. Export focused it interfaces with UK and international shipyards and ship owning communities.

nTHE DTG COUNCIL supports the interests of member companies generally engaged in digital technology which include the development and provision of digital services, cyber security, shared learning, the creation of new contacts and increased awareness of new technological innovations often from outside the industry.

n THE MASG COUNCIL supports the interests of member companies in the maritime autonomy sector. This expanding market impinges on a wide range of maritime applications such as the marine scientific and offshore energy market, deep sea mining and security operations, and in maritime transport, where autonomy has the potential to improve the integration and effectiveness of both cargo and passenger transport. Members with an interest include manufacturers, academia, researchers, survey companies and system suppliers.

n THE MSTG COUNCIL supports the interests of member companies generally engaged in marine science and technology which include sensor manufacturers, research institutions, survey companies and system suppliers serving the oceanographic and marine environment sectors

n THE PTG COUNCIL supports the interests of member companies in the ports and terminals industries which include port owners and operators; shippers; freight forwarders; planners; specialist engineering, design and technical consultancies; international contractors; manufacturers of a variety of port and terminal equipment; banks and financiers; accountants; insurance brokers and law firms.
