New Homes May - June 2018 Cardiff

development crowned with ‘Best Family Home’ title at ‘First

Time Buyer Readers’ Awards

Homes at Cardiff’s brand-new urban village – The Mill, Canton – have been declared Best First Time Buyer Family Home in the national First Time Buyer Readers’ Awards 2018. Lovell’s Ashton two-bedroom house style took the Best Family Home title at the awards event, crowning it as one of the top-rated properties for purchasers taking their first step on to the housing ladder. Organised by leading property magazine First Time Buyer and the First Time Buyer Home Show, the prestigious awards are decided by members of the public themselves who vote for their choice from a shortlist selected by professional judges. Now in their ninth year, the much-acclaimed awards celebrate the most successful homes and services available to those buying their first home. Lynda Clark, editor of First Time Buyer Magazine, comments: “Although the competition was high this year as the awards continue to grow, The Mill by Lovell Homes clearly impressed the judges with The Ashton. An ideal home for a family starting out on the property ladder, this property ticks all the boxes. As well as offering excellent design features and a great layout, this property is ideally located and lends itself well to family life. Many congratulations to the whole team for the work they do to support growing families into homeownership.”

The accolade underlines The Mill’s success in enabling first-time purchasers to become home owners at this sought-after riverside location in the heart of the city. The development of the former Arjo Wiggins paper mill site with 800 new houses and apartments has attracted consistently strong sales since launching last year. One of Wales’ largest regeneration programmes, The Mill is being delivered by a partnership of Lovell, the Tirion Group and Cadwyn Housing Association with support from the Welsh Government and financial backing from the Principality Building Society. Overall, it will create 358 homes for open market sale through Lovell and 442 homes for Tirion which will be managed by Cadwyn Housing Association and will be available for discounted or social rent.

Lovell regional managing director Kate Rees says: “This is a fantastic accolade for The Mill and our Ashton house style which has brought the premium lifestyle offered at the development within reach of first-time purchasers, enabling them to afford a high-quality family home just a couple of miles from Cardiff’s buzzing city centre. Everyone in the project team and partnership is extremely proud of the attractive community taking shape at The Mill and the way that the development is helping people who might otherwise be priced out in such a desirable location. It’s particularly pleasing that members of the public have recognised how special this

scheme is by voting for us.” The family-friendly layout of The Mill’s two-bedroom Ashton house style has made it particularly popular with first-time purchasers. Its spacious ground-floor accommodation features an open-plan kitchen and dining room, a separate living room with French doors leading onto the garden and a cloakroom, while upstairs are two double bedrooms and a family bathroom. A range of one- and two-bedroom apartments are currently

available at The Mill, with one-bedroom

homes starting from £138,000 and two-bedroom properties from £172,000. Three-bedroom houses start from £249,500 and four-beds from £375,000. Just one three- bedroom Aspen house style – one of the largest homes at the development – is available at £299,995. The Mill was also shortlisted in the Best Urban Regeneration Project category of the First Time Buyer Reader’s Awards, recognising the major investment and community support associated with the development. The project has delivered extensive job and training opportunities as well as initiatives with local schools and community organisations.

The show homes and marketing suite are open seven days a week, from 10am to 5pm at The Mill, Canton, Cardiff CF11 8DH. Alternatively, to find out more, please contact the Lovell sales team on 02920 606 766 or go to www.themill-canton.co.uk
