For the little ones there’ll be a chance to meet Father Christmas. You can write your Christmas list at the Victorian Schoolhouse then pop it in the box at the post offi ce. Stop for a chat with the postmaster while you’re there. Ride the Christmas land train down to the Llwyn Yr Eos Farm to meet Mother Christmas in her kitchen. Be sure to check the stables while you’re there because there will be some special four legged guests.
Merthyr's Christmas Lights Switch On!
Come along on Saturday 18th November as they kick off Christmas in Merthyr with a day of festive family fun for the Merthyr Christmas Lights Switch On in Penderyn Square.
Heart Breakfast's Jagger and Woody and the Heart Angels will be counting down to the big switch on from 4.30pm with the local group Fantasy Feet, stars from Redhouse’s pantomime production
of Cinderella, the Band of The Salvation Army, the mixed choir of St David’s Church and, of course, Santa.
Then as the darkness falls the entertainment will reach a fantastic climax with Juggling Inferno and their spectacular LED glow show, First Light, before the moment comes to press the plunger and light up the town.

Make sure you visit the Heart Angels, they’ll be there from 1pm with free Christmas Antlers and having lots of festive fun. You could even make a head start on your Christmas shopping - especially as you can park all day on Saturdays for just £1 in the town centre’s pay and display car parks, right up to Christmas.
