Quantity surveyor moves from a 300-year-old barn to a new-build home

A quantity surveyor, who has been involved in building more than 3,500 new homes in his 48-year construction career, has moved into his very first new-build home.

300-year-old converted barn in Murton, to a modern three-bedroom Shipton home at Bellway’s Awel Y Môr development in Sketty. Selling their old property has enabled

Swansea-born John Rewbridge says if he’d known just how life-changing the benefits of owning a brand-new home would be, he would have made the transition 30 years ago. John (65) and his wife Allison (51) moved from their four-bedroom

the couple to enjoy the benefits of low maintenance living, while the cash they’ve realised from downsizing has also provided them with time to create long-lasting memories. John said: “Although we loved our old place, general maintenance took up

a lot of our time. Te gardening took three and a half hours a week, and our gas and electric systems had become dated, which meant they weren’t as efficient and bumped up our energy bills. “Allison and I own a property out in Spain, so when we leſt home for a while, we could always expect a great deal of maintenance work to come back to.” John and Allison have been able to relax since their move into a new home, as well as having the assurance of it being covered by a 10-year insurance scheme. John added: “Allison works as a physiotherapist technician at the local hospital, and one of her colleagues had just bought a Bellway home and she recommended it to us. Aſter we received another recommendation, we were on the second viewing of the barn, so we decided to pursue our options with Bellway. “We scheduled a trip to Awel Y Môr to explore the homes and fell in love right away. While we were there, we came across some of the most helpful and knowledgeable sales staff I’d ever dealt with, aſter years of working in the industry.

“Judith the sales advisor went above and beyond for us. As soon as we leſt, I called my friends in Swansea to recommend the estate right away. “Buying a new home has been wonderful in every aspect, we’d never look back now.” Te couple are owners of a friendly Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Gracie Ann, who has become a very well recognised dog in the area – especially at the local pub. John continued: “Te local neighbourhood is great, with lovely dependable neighbours, and everything we need is within very good reach. We’re really making the most of Sketty. “I would absolutely recommend buying with Bellway. I really didn’t expect that level of service and everything has gone so well. “It was truly the perfect experience, and the aſter-sales service is exceptional.” Tere is currently a selection of three and four-bedroom homes available to reserve at Bellway’s Awel Y Môr development, with prices starting from £259,995.
