Youngsters from across the Rhoose area are set to benefi t after Tarmac and The Vale Parent Child Homework Support Club have partnered to launch a Science Club.

The Club, for pupils aged 9-16, is already reporting huge success and has become fully subscribed in the two weeks since it became active. Tarmac, which has a longstanding partnership with The Vale Parent Child Homework Support Club, came up with the idea of a Science Club to complement the existing help and support available

throughout the year. The funding to run the course has been secured through Glamorgan

Voluntary

Services (GVS) youth-led ‘Dish Out Dosh’ grant. Tarmac Aberthaw’s Plant Manager, Chris Bradbury, said: “We are proud to further our support to

experiments in a safe, controlled

we hope to inspire future generations

environment to consider

careers in science fi elds, like engineering.”

The Club is run by volunteers

the

Homework Club and are delighted to play a hands- on role in delivering the Science Club. “Science

is a subject

at Aberthaw and

by giving youngsters the opportunity to get more involved and undertake

and and holds

English, maths and now science support sessions for local Vale school children helping

is now older family

members to further their skills with adult learning support. Science Club will take place every Wednesday during term time between 3.45 – 5pm at Rhoose Community Centre.

Homeless hounds Coco, Moby Puddin, Roley, Roxy and Bullseye are eagerly special

awaiting someone

all loving new

their and

staff are hoping they can banish misconceptions about the breed and fi nd them

homes. The homeless hounds are hoping that 2018 will be a ‘Yappy New Year’ and they will

fi nd a home to call their own.

Dogs Trust Bridgend Rehoming Centre Assistant Manager, Becky Baker, explains: “We have a number of Staffi es looking for their forever sofa and hope that local dog lovers will fi nd room in their homes for

who are always eager to please. “Most Staffi es are active by nature so they do need families that have plenty of time to play with them and provide tough toys for them to keep themselves busy with. Coco, Moby, Puddin, Roley, Roxy and Bullseye are a mixed bag of characters but they have a real zest for life with so much love to give and we know they would all make superb companions in the right homes.”

If you think you can make room for a super Staffy in your home, please call the centre on 0300 303 0292 or visit www.dogstrust. org.uk for more details.
