increase to £1.90, but the short-hop fare remains unchanged at £1.00.

Bus fares revised due to increasing costs of operation

Monthly tickets paid via direct debit, most annual tickets along with Park & Ride fares will be frozen. With direct debit fares remaining unchanged these continue to offer the cheapest way to travel around the To Go area – a daily equivalent of £1.58 adult or £1.02 young persons.

The group iff ticket is being replaced with a new ‘group day to go’ offering up to fi ve people of any age unlimited journeys on the day of issue for £10 on bus or £9.50 on the iff app. This new ticket will allow unlimited journeys on the day of issue in the To Go area for up to 5 persons of any age. Cynthia Ogbonna, Managing Director at Cardiff Bus, said: “While we are committed

to maintaining a comprehensive network of high frequency services from early to late 7 days a week, along with 24-hour services on some routes, we have to remain commercially viable. “We have resisted these increases for as long as possible as we realise the effect it will have on our customers.

“But these revisions are now unavoidable as we face increasing costs across the whole of our business.

“The more people we can get onto buses, the more we’ll reduce congestion – and the more people will be able to get to work on time and without the stress and expense of driving and parking.”
