Welsh Capital will stay squeaky clean

McDonald’s provides boost to Grassroots football

FOR Cardiff has announced the permanent extension of its deep cleansing programme across the city, following the success of its six-month pilot scheme.

The commitment to keep Cardiff looking spick and span is part of FOR Cardiff’s pledge to make the city more welcoming for visitors.

The Deep Cleansing team will continue to react to cleaning requests from businesses as a permanent additional service to the everyday cleaning work Cardiff Council carry out. Making it offi cial, FOR Cardiff has invested in a fl eet of branded vehicles, equipment and uniforms to make sure the cleansing team are easily recognisable when they are working on the streets.

During the six-month pilot, the deep cleansing team have successfully dealt with over 300 cleaning requests from businesses and Street Ambassadors, making over 70 shop fronts sparkle and removing graffi ti from 250 spots across Cardiff.

Executive Director of FOR Cardiff, Adrian Field, said: “The pilot scheme has been a huge success and based on the positive feedback from our city centre based businesses, we are now able to commit to deliver the service for the next few years. “Our mission is to make Cardiff more welcoming, vibrant and infl uential and having clean streets plays a big part in that. We want to give visitors the best impression of the city and ensure Cardiff continues to build a positive reputation as a clean city, especially with major events like the NatWest Six Nations tournament, the Anthony Joshua fi ght and the Volvo Open Race happening in the next few weeks and months.” The

extended deep cleansing

programme is just one in a long list of projects FOR Cardiff will be rolling out across the capital in 2018, covering 130 streets stretching from the Principality Stadium to Newport Road and Butetown to Cathays.

The Cardiff Corries U10s have received a brand new free kit, courtesy of local McDonald’s franchisee Ralph Parker and the McDonald’s and FAW Accredited Club Kit Scheme. This is just one of 23,254 kits that have been donated to teams in Wales as a result of the scheme. Now in its fourth year, the McDonald’s kit scheme has reached a new milestone, by providing over 250,000 free kits to grassroots football clubs across the UK, with a further 70,000 to be delivered this season alone. As a long-standing partner of the FAWs, this year McDonald’s

is celebrating

its 15th anniversary of championing those who enable children and young adults of all genders, ages and abilities

to play and enjoy football. Ralph Parker, who is a keen supporter of grassroots football, said: “The Cardiff Corries is a fantastic example of a grassroots club with a real community spirit. It’s important that we support local teams to help them create the best possible experience for young aspiring players. It’s great to see that the McDonald’s Accredited Kit scheme is thriving again this year, as it’s a great reward for grassroots clubs up and down the country.” For more information and to fi nd out how your club can redeem their free kit as part of the McDonald’s Accredited Club Kit Scheme, please visit www. mcdonalds.co.uk/kitscheme or follow @BetterPlayUK.
