UPFRONT OPEN TO QUESTION DO THE MATHS: CHARTER SEASON ROMANCES

It’s summer everyone looks great in their uniforms and we all have a tan. It’s no wonder romance is in the air. But how many romances between yachties are successful?

30% of yachties can’t

remember the other person’s name the next morning

19% of yachtie

romances last for more than one year

5%

of yachtie romances

end in marriage

WHERE IS YOUR MUST VISIT DESTINATION THIS SUMMER AND WHY?

ERICA LAY, OWNER EL CREW CO As soon as we’re allowed to travel freely I will be hopping on a plane and visiting my family. It’s been 15 months so far; the longest time I’ve ever gone without seeing my mum! I hope by then I’ll be allowed to give her a hug too, but if not, just being able to see her in real life will be enough for now. Like everyone else, I’ve had enough of Covid.

JASON VIOLA, CHEF

PEOPLE REQUEST THE STRANGEST THINGS

We had a guest who requested a

specific room because of the effect the sun at that angle had on their aura.

CAN YOU HEAR ME?

KNOWN SPECIES OF JELLY FISH, ALTHOUGH SCIENTISTS BELIEVE THERE COULD BE AS MANY AS 300,000 SPECIES YET TO BE DISCOVERED

The IP503H is a small, lightweight LTE/PoC radio handset that offers licence free nationwide coverage over the 4G/LTE network. The IP503H is ideal for transmitting over long and short distances or areas where conventional radio is not feasible or is too costly. ICOM have a huge range of handsets for every necessary requirement on board or shore. Keep safe and keep in touch with ICOM and the latest IP503H.

Anywhere on the water where there’s no yachts! At least during my rest time I don’t wanna see them! Joking aside, my next big travel will be back home in Oz. Haven’t been back home for 4 years now. It’s time to go.

MALGORZATA SCHEIDLE, CHEF As soon as I can travel, I will fly to see my mum and dad. My dad is a frontline worker - a doctor. Last year him and my mum went through covid, it was a long and very hard process, my mum almost didn’t make it. Priority changed

this time. Family is the most precious. So proud of my dad, he works even after retiring to help out everyone out there. And I want to tell them in person how much I love them and how proud I am to be their daughter!!

DENISE JAMIESON, CHIEF STEW Pacific Islands would be a nice start, especially if a travel bubble opens up! NZ is home and safe and open, but WOW we are isolated! So, it would just be nice to get home and see the family and maybe able to travel a little before or after NZ, but time will tell.

CARL BEVE, CAPTAIN

The porbeagle (Lamna nasus) is a species of mackerel shark. It typically reaches 2.5m in length and a weight of 135kg. Prized for its meat and fins, the porbeagle has long been under heavy fishing pressure. The IUCN classifies the porbeagle as vulnerable globally and as critically endangered in the northeast Atlantic and the Mediterranean.

Whenever your

preparations for the sea are poor; the sea worms its way in and finds the problems.

I’d do the Bahamas as they are super advanced in their covid protocols. Life goes on like there was no covid. Test and tracing levels are advanced and no lockdowns to be seen. Guests come and go, bars and restaurants are open

and you can enter as long as you have your health visa and follow protocols.
