Sword & Trowel 2019: Issue 1

Tuesday 2nd A

to Thursday 4th

July 2019

COURSE of addresses for pastors, church planters, and all who pray

and labour for greater instrumentality through the work of the Gospel in the local church. Guest international speaker is Dr

David Beale, for 35 years a professor of church history and author of major works – Baptist History in England and America and Historical Theology In- Depth. He will trace the doctrinal steps taken by Baptists to move from dead hypercalvinism to the evangelistic preaching of Andrew Fuller and William Carey. Under the title ‘Every Preacher a Regular Evangelist’,

Dr Masters will present the biblical arguments in favour of dedicated persuasive evangelistic preaching, and in daytime addresses will review the biblical reasons for worship being kept distinctive and apart from worldly- entertainment genres of music. Dr Nick Needham will bring two timely addresses sounding a warning about the swiftness and subtlety of decline once error enters in, with case studies from history. Pastor Ibrahim Ag Mohamed and Pastor Chris Buss

will speak on ‘The Loss of the Working Church and its Restoration’. Rev John Thackway and

Pastor Chris Hand will give sessions under the title ‘Back to Scripture with Offi ce Bearers and Church Structure’. Teatime workshop ses-

sions this year will present a preparation course for teaching and working in Sunday School and Bible class ministry.
