Shindaiwa shines out


Shindaiwa launched several additions to its Site Bright range of lighting equipment, each of which is powered by Lithium-ion batteries and has LED lights. The PathFinder is a highly portable unit that folds away into a protective carry-case. It extends to a maximum height of 1.2m and provides 180° illumination for up to


25 hours. Shindaiwa believes it will appeal to rail industry users. The Guide Light offers a working height of up to 1.6m and will provide


lighting for a maximum of four hours before recharging is required. The Vanguard can be set to provide 180° or 360° illumination and its mast extends to 1.6m. It has three output settings, offering up to 20 hours running time, and it also folds down into its own carry-case.

A host of new products from Altrad Belle included the lightweight Bulldog 20-litre hydraulic power pack which is compact enough to fit into an estate car and has folding handles for transportation. For eco-friendliness it has auto-idle and a power-on-demand facility. New compaction plates on show included the PCX60A which


has a specially engineered baseplate designed to eradicate track marks on asphalt and has integral wheels, and the PCX20/45 and PCX20/50 models that are now available in a diesel option, together with a petrol version of the RPX 35 reversible plate. The company’s generator line-up has also been extended with


the addition of a wheeled 5kVA model, as well as a range of 3.5kVA and 5kVA CTE (centre tapped to earth) machines to provide smooth current for fusion welding tasks.

JCB dumper debut


A big draw to this year’s Show was the debut exhibition appearance of the first production JCB site dumpers. The 7T-1Hi-Viz Front-Tip dumper, with its distinctive low-slung skip, greeted visitors arriving through the north entrance to the Ricoh Arena, and on its stand inside, the manufacturer unveiled its own-design 3T-1 swivel tip dumper, which has a 27.4kW Kubota engine and a Dana hydrostatic transmission. The dumpers are now being produced alongside backhoe loaders at the company’s main Rocester factory. JCB also unveiled its latest 1.5-tonne mini excavator,


pictured. The 15C-1, with a 1,000mm-wide grading bucket, was shown on a customised Ifor Williams two-axle plant trailer. This has a lockable front compartment to carry two digging buckets and a JCB HM012T hydraulic breaker attachment.
