“Mobility has the opportunity to help
shape the unknown
”
This summer has been dominated by dramatic events, from surprise election results to natural disasters and terrorist attacks. As we go to press, a devastating hurricane has hit the Caribbean and the US, and global political tension is mounting over the North Korea missile crisis.
The world has, in many ways, shrunk as volatility, uncertainty, complexity and ambiguity become a reality for many international organisations. But equally, as global mobility becomes more prevalent, the mobility sector has the opportunity to share experiences and knowledge across industries, and to help shape the unknown.
Our sector knows how to move talent effectively, navigate the complexities caused by compliance issues, and mitigate risk in all areas of business. It’s vital to ensure that administration is slick, policies are in place, and technology is ready to deal with volume and change. The value of analytics couldn’t be greater, as decision-makers will need evidence- based solutions.
As some organisations inevitably plan to open new offices and relocate staff to new dominions, it is interesting to see developments in Europe, the UK and further afield, where inward investment drives are supporting international organisations. Things are changing fast across regional hubs, and technology allows closer working and cooperation across sectors.
In our US focus, we ask well-known figures in the relocation arena to share their thoughts on McKinsey’s recent manufacturing survey, with lessons for many Western economies in the throes of change.
Our extensive education coverage provides some paths for employers and parents to follow to ensure that relocating children have the best chance of success. Catch up with our video series, too.
