Brilliant free thinking from Don McIntyre – showed well on first transatlantic appearance The latest scow for the Mini Series division. Second-generation topsides treatment. Very aero After considerable sorting/beefing-up Raison’s Series Scow took its first Transat win in 2021 Lots of green in this excellent and affordable 650 Series scow… all in circa ⇔60,000 + tax A proper modern small one-design keelboat. Many have tried but this one has delivered … Much cheaper used boats have given the class a (needed) second wind Super-intuitive and groundbreaking – a prime mover in making foiled sailing the norm Another big nose. Raison’s unbustable and hugely roomy aluminium scow-cruiser Tempting and swift folding tri – fast family weekend perfection
With more than 80 Cape 31s sold, time to offer something to the smaller less pro end of the market Very chic and sportif little cruiser-racer from the Vrolijk team. Keenly priced too Watch out, Cape 31, is all we can say. Oh yes… it’s 28ft on the waterline (it’s a long sprit!) Series produced and with quite a ‘green’ build. Aimed at ORCi and ORC Sportboat Much better second time around. Now built in Europe and looking really good. Light, fast, foxy The best, fastest and most fun inshore racer since the J/70. Approaching no100 Successful (as usual). Aimed squarely at offshore and shorthanded racing Very pretty ORC yacht – also goes well in IRC. A dual-purpose yacht to be proud of A welcome new face with a famous name in affordable fast-is-fun high-performance sailing Downward curved foils, no water ballast, foils by Multiplast. Flies downhill in pressure With plenty on the used boat market still a good alternative to the Pogo and JPK offerings Futuristic and powerful one-design from a famous name
A light, gently scow IRC machine from the masters. TCC around 1.040 Lighter than the 1080, flies downwind. A Transquadra favourite
An excellent solution for offshore one-design regattas but less so for IRC/ORC competitions Fastnet-winning response to Lan Ael 3, oriented at shorthanded competition. TCC around 1.050 The foiling replacement for the all-conquering D35 lake cats is an immense machine Very clean IRC speedster. Still keenly priced – so fast and good value
A different take on the modern racer-cruiser. Sharper edges yet still manages to be pretty Not what you were expecting? Sam Manuard and a trimmed-down Class40 with all the comfy bits 52 years after the beautiful Swan 36 first went afloat another magnificent adventure This prolific yard now CNC-mill all their own tooling in solid aluminium (not kidding you) More than 25 boats out there mostly racing in Newport RI. Good secondhand purchase for IRC Fast, roomy, very contemporary styling. European Yacht of the Year 2017. Still in demand At US$3million ready to go, a few more must surely look at that ploddy 50-footer and wonder… More cruisey than the JPK but with a lower rating – another shorthanded alternative Carries on the winning tradition of the family-style JPK operation
Super-pretty (as usual) but purposeful ORC/IRC racer-cruiser – ORC World Champion too Proper high-performing racer-cruiser tri. Big carbon rig. Dry ship weight barely over five tonnes A shiny all-new 40ft model rather than a revamp of a previous design A fusion of good modern styling with a competitive hull and rig
Powerful-looking IRC racer with twin-wheels and de rigueur chopped-away sheers. Did well in AC The biggest folding trimaran yet from the prolific Danish designer/builder. Retirement dream A good-looking, light and slippery contemporary cruiser-racer from Poland. Keenly priced
X-Yachts return to the sharp end of the racing scene and with serious attitude
Stretched Class40 still with water ballast but also adding some basic comforts for fast cruising As beautiful as you’d expect from a masterfully stylish yacht designer. Looks swift too Racing one-design, IRC or ORC. And when not racing the terminology is ‘sport cruiser’. Excellent! Fast dual-purpose tri from a very focused team. Boy, do these puppies go
A larger version of the successful, fast and pretty Pogo 40 Class40-lookalike racer-cruiser Very attractive, roomy and powerful IRC 44-footer
All-carbon award winner and rightly so. Well-proven package, fast, spacious and easy to operate The prototypes were carefully refined and the boats very much reflect that. 45+ sold
Fast, pretty and with unusually good all-round visibility, the Balance 526 easily accommodates six A new Italian offering with one of the most stylish yacht interiors we have seen for some time Utterly stunning… incorporating flax and wicker in the build. Building boat no5 All the lessons learnt have gone into this stretched replacement for the 68 First big cat underway. At last Jason Ker gets off the ballast!
Stunning series-build canting-lift keeler, everything carbon. Tooling there for Boat2 Now there is a big long-range cruising cat able to keep that feisty Gunboat 68 in its box… New performance cruiser, three building of this one, plus one already of the even newer 120 Back in the game. Considerable refinement since the first prototype started smashing records
