GKN workers from across England braved snowstorms travelling to Parliament on February 28 to lobby MPs and demand the government stops Melrose’s debt-fuelled takeover bid of the British-based engineer.

UMWEP CONFERENCE
WHERE MIGRANT WORKERS FIND A VOICE
Unite’s migrant workers education programme (UMWEP) celebrated 10 years of helping migrant workers find a voice at a special event in London in December.
UMWEP has assisted workers from across the globe to integrate into UK society by a combination of ESOL (English as a second and foreign language) and other courses.
Unite director of education Jim Mowatt said, “Unite is proud to have been at the forefront of promoting a comprehensive educational programme that’s helped over 7,000 people from a wide range of countries to fulfil their potential as they embark on their new lives in Britain.”
