BY HAJERA BLAGG G ON HAS TO STOP
“It can’t be right that a bus driver can be stuck behind the wheel and not know where they can access a toilet,” Khan said. “These men and women work hard keeping London moving at all hours so it’s vital that they are given the dignity of having access to a rest stop when they need it.”
Unite national officer for passenger Bobby Morton agreed. “We have long been campaigning for adequate access to toilet facilities for bus drivers, and this latest investment in permanent toilets on 40 routes is excellent news for the dignity we have been fighting for on behalf of our London bus drivers,” he said.
“It cannot be right that the men and women who keep our capital ticking over have been made to ‘hold on’ – it’s bad for bus drivers’ health and comfort and it’s dangerous for passengers when bus drivers lose concentration in a job that requires you to be constantly alert.
“The London Mayor’s welcome commitment to bus drivers in London should serve as a blueprint for our bus drivers across the UK – they are the lifeblood of our transport arteries and deserve the utmost dignity and respect,” he concluded.
“ “
Finally drivers have won the right to access toilet facilities when making deliveries. This reform would not have occurred without Unite’s continued campaigning

Providing toilets and washing facilities is not a luxury; they are a basic human right. In the 21st century there is no excuse for any workplace not to provide clean and decent welfare facilities
