Built at an estimated cost of $70 million, Carowinds was named for a combination of the surrounding Carolinas and the winds that blew across the two states. The park included original attractions such as Carolina Skytower, Snoopy’s Junction and Carolina Goldrusher - still in operation today. Five decades later, guests will experience the iconic border between North Carolina and South Carolina anew when Carowinds celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2023. At the centre of the 50th anniversary celebration will be Aeronautica Landing, a tribute to the Carolinas’ spirit of invention, exploration, and aviation, where guests can immerse themselves in the history and future of flight. Construction is now under way in the Crossroads areas of the park,

which will be completely renovated and renamed as Aeronautica Landing, complete with the introduction of five new themed attractions opening in 2023, as well as a retheming of an existing ride, for a total of six rides.

Island Theme Park. “We partnered with Sony Pictures in order to achieve an authentic experience that will be the first attraction of this level in Russia, in one of the world’s leading theme parks.” “In line with our growing Location Based Entertainment strategy, Dream Island Theme Park has done a fantastic job bringing this beloved brand to life and giving audiences the unique opportunity to transport themselves into the thrilling world of Hotel Transylvania,” said Jeffrey Godsick, EVP of Global Partnerships and Brand Management and Head of Location Based Entertainment at Sony Pictures Entertainment. In addition to the Hotel Transylvania ride,

guests will also find a “Tavern of Fear” snack bar, a “Vampire’s Bite” burger cafe and “Transylvania Treasures,” a gift store filled with Hotel Transylvania themed souvenirs and memorabilia.

Following the celebration of its 97th anniversary on July 4, Belmont Park has been making updates throughout to ensure it is in the best condition ever when it comes time to celebrate its centenary. In the past year, Belmont Park has added murals by local artists throughout the park, increased its safety measures, improved rides, added new rides and most recently opened a new escape room. “Belmont Park has had an incredible life these past 97 years,” said Steve Thomas, general manager at Belmont Park. “As we prepare for 100 years of Belmont Park, I want to make sure we’re in the best shape we’ve ever been in and that means new rides, better safety, new games, more fun and so much more.”

New Rides

Belmont Park recently added two new rides at the park: Dip ‘N Dive and Wave Jumper. Now open, the Dip ‘N Dive is a submarine voyage featuring a full-size mural backdrop of an underwater scene. It consists of a replica mini-submarine attached to two large mechanical arms that rotate the ride clockwise and counter clockwise through the air, lifting riders to a maximum height of 20 feet at a speed of 10 RPM. The Wave Jumper, also now open, features boats that race up, down and all

around on an imaginary trip through the ocean. Fun for all passengers, Wave Jumper allows riders to explore the ocean waves as the boat “jumps” up and down in a circular motion just as one would on an open sea exploration. With speeds just reaching six RPM, this ride is perfect for smaller travellers.

Danish theming firm MK Themed Attractions assisted UK family park Paultons Park in getting its brand-new themed area, Tornado Springs, ready for 12 April by producing and delivering customised props for the entire area. 

to say that it has been a pleasure working with Paultons Park. are so pleased to finally open the park and welcome guests to explore Tornado Springs, our largest single investment here at Paultons Park. We wanted to introduce a spectacular and immersive themed area

For the first time since opening Escapology in 2016, Belmont Park has released a new Escapology room, Mansion Murder. With a 9 out of 10 difficulty rating, the new room takes place in the Scottish Highlands on New Years Eve in 1999. Gamers play the role of Robert Montgomerie who is attending a family gathering, hosted by Grandfather, Hugh Montgomerie. As the guests raise a toast, a scream fills the air and Grandpa is found dead in the library - and it looks like murder. Locked in a room, Robert realises that he is the direct heir to the Kildermorie Estate and the Montgomerie family fortune - he’s being framed. Players have 60 minutes to prove Robert’s innocence and escape the room. Looking ahead, Belmont Park plans to build an additional building with new escape rooms in 2023.

Opening in the spring of 2023, Aeronautica Landing is the fourth rethemed area to be introduced at Carowinds since County Fair in 2017, and most recently, Blue Ridge Junction in 2019.

In addition, Aeronautica Landing will boast two new and one upgraded dining venues. This includes a new restaurant featuring a craft beer bar and patio, alongside the refresh of an existing location and other new snack locations. This family-friendly area with immersive décor will feature a game zone complete with four new midway games, including an innovative acrobatic challenge, and the retheming of a classic basketball challenge. The 2023 operating season marks the beginning of '50 years of Carolina fun' a limited-time special event that brings plenty of new rides and attractions, exciting entertainment, enhanced food and

beverage offerings, night-time spectaculars, and other immersive experiences. Additional details regarding the anniversary activities will be available in the coming months.
