massive local population base, the resort will surely be a success. However, it remains to be seen how Chimelong can differentiate its product offerings rather than competing with itself.
Trend: Indoor Snow Play Mega Centers in China A major entertainment concept trend in China is mega-scale indoor snow play and skiing centers. Although indoor skiing has been around for a few years, a new generation of large-scale snow play and skiing centers are opening in China, offering a wider range of experiences both within the snow center and in adjacent commercial complexes. Sunac is the most notable indoor ski venue operator in China. It currently
operates six indoor ski venues that it owns, as well as three outdoor ski areas. The combined attendance at its nine ski venues is estimated at over 3 million per year. Even after several years of operation, the attendance remains Being a ski club member represents an exciting and sporty lifestyle, which is attractive to the young adult market in China.
manages and operates snow attractions for other owners. Sunac could soon have as many as 20-30 indoor/outdoor ski venues under its operation. By the end of December 2024, Sunac had signed on at least another 12 ski venues under the light-asset model. Sunac has developed a comprehensive product prototype which represents
a major new trend. A single snow world provides multiple ski and snow play experiences. Take the newly opened Chongqing Sunac Snow World as an example. It is currently the first large-scale indoor snow world in the country where visitors can interact closely with penguins at Penguin Island, explore mysterious snow caves, participate in snow tubing, and ice skate on frozen

lakes. It provides six different ski slopes catering to the needs of skiers with different levels of skill. One of the most significant upcoming indoor ski venues is the Shenzhen
Qianhai Huafa Ice and Snow World, which will also be operated by Sunac. It is conveniently located in the center of Qianhai Bay, Shenzhen, close to the Shenzhen International Convention and Exhibition Center. Expected to open in November 2025, the project includes a 100,000-sqm indoor ski resort with 450-meter runs. In addition to the ski resort, the project also includes high-end hotels, commercial streets, and smart office clusters. This project is expected to be not only a destination for ski enthusiasts in the Greater Bay Area but also an important tourist destination for hosting international events and attracting tourists. Another good example of the mega-scale trend is the Shanghai L+SNOW
Indoor Skiing Theme Resort. L+SNOW opened in September 2024 as the near Haichang Ocean World and some 35 minutes from Shanghai Disney Resort. L+SNOW has a total construction area of 350,000 square meters, with four ski runs for different levels of skiing ability and nearly 20 small attractions in its snow play area. In addition to skiing, L+SNOW also has a water park, which covers an area of 20,000 square meters and includes 26 water slides. The resort offers three five-star hotels. One of the hotels has rooms with direct access to the ski slopes. Guests can enter the ski resort directly from the balcony. There is also ample retail and dining within the complex for visitors. Indoor snow play centers have proven to be successful in large urban
centers with large and wealthy populations. These centers are expanding their product offerings to attract a wider demographic as well as integrating more entertainment and hospitality in related developments. The viability of these centers in smaller cities is untested.
