CONTENTS Dear Reader,

Welcome to the latest issue of Education Today, and welcome back to school! By now I hope all the careful planning has paid off and you are getting back into the swing of full classes and doing the job you trained to do. Moving on to the magazine this month, we have a bumper set of features for you. Our feature focus this month is on mental health and wellbeing in schools, a topic that, given the current circumstances, is of paramount importance to pupils and staff alike. In the first of our three pieces on the subject, we hear from Jill Mead, CEO at TalkOut Group, who discusses how we can help manage and spot the signs of poor mental health amongst teachers, and promote a healthier, happier, resilient workforce, while in the second, long time Education Today contributor Dr Asha Patel examines the issues around supporting the mental health of staff in school. In our third piece on the topic, Learning & Development Analyst at High Speed Training, Catherine Talbot, discusses how to promote positive mental health and a nurturing culture within schools. In our final, standalone, feature, Michael Chiles, author of “The CRAFT of Assessment”, looks at successful teaching practice and how learning can be assessed to create a climate for leaders in all phases of education that will support and enable their teachers to take control and use assessment to guide pupils in closing the knowledge gap. Remember, we love to hear from you, you can get in touch with us via Twitter @EdTodayMag, Facebook and our homepage, as well as by phone or email.

Enjoy the issue!
