Overall, these packages aim not only to close academic gaps but to also build confidence, life skills and career readiness students need to transition successfully into their next stage of education, training or employment.

Why is social and emotional learning important alongside academic tutoring? Academic learning is so important for young people, it gives them career prospects, life skills, access to learning and topics which may inspire them. However, when the student’s wider world is not going smoothly, academic learning can feel like a very low priority. Supporting students with their here and now, building their own self-worth allows them to be able to see the value in subjects like Maths, English and Science.
