CONTENTS Dear Reader,

Welcome to the latest issue of Education Today. As I write Dyslexia Awareness week is in full swing, and we take our main feature focus this month from it, looking at various aspects of SEND. In the first of our two features on the topic, we’re delighted to hear from Davina Bell, Headteacher at Bramfield House School in Suffolk, who talks about re-engaging SEN pupils with SEMH, communication difficulties and associated challenging behaviours, by stimulating their interest in learning through a flexible and creative curriculum and providing enriching opportunities outside the classroom. In our second look at SEND, Nick White, founder of I Want A Standing Desk, explores the growing popularity of standing desks and their benefit for pupils with additional needs – it’s a fascinating piece and is sure to make you think. Finally, in our third feature, Chris Read, the Head of the Centre for Professional Learning at Consilium Academies, explains why CPD is so important to Consilium, how the Centre for Professional Learning came about, and how it will be of benefit to the wider teaching community. Elsewhere we have all our regulars on hand

to offer insight and advice, and a lovely View from the classroom piece from Aurelie Charles at Rivermead Entry Partnership Room, who talks about expanding horizons and building confidence in the SEND classroom through the use of global story-based learning platform Lyfta. Remember, we love to hear from you, you

can get in touch with us via Twitter @EdTodayMag, as well as by phone or email.
