Martyn’s Law: protect your school ADVERTORIAL
How can we support you?
At Bodet Time, we recognise the challenges that schools face with Martyn’s Law. We provide a flexible, customisable lockdown alert solution that will help ensure everyone knows how to respond in an emergency.
Amongst other features, it allows you to: • Trigger a fully tailored alert simultaneously across multiple buildings on site, via a control box, PC or smartphone
• Pre-record messages to save time and ensure you transmit calmly. You can make live announcements if required
• Broadcast alerts in various ways, including text display and luminous strobes to reach anyone with hearing or visual impairments

M
artyn’s Law – the Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Bill – was introduced in the House of Commons in late 2024. It is currently at Committee stage following scrutiny by the House of Lords. This UK- wide measure will introduce security requirements to certain public venues holding more than 200 people, including educational settings.
How can you prepare?
To meet the proposed law’s requirements, every setting must have an effective and clear lockdown procedure. You should also communicate the procedure to all affected parties. Make sure you provide regular training so everyone understands what they need to do in an emergency. When a lockdown alert is triggered, your staff, pupils and visitors must stay in the safest place. This may mean evacuating, relocating within the building or staying in the same place.
