CONTENTS Dear Reader,

Welcome to the March issue of Education Today!

This month, our Feature Focus is on Recruitment. It’s well-known that schools across the UK are dealing with a real recruitment and retention crisis. Teachers are leaving the profession and graduates are looking elsewhere for employment prospects. So what can be done? We hear from Wayne Cartmel, Founder & CEO of MyNewTerm, who discusses why schools and MATs need to be going digital when it comes to their recruitment strategies. For our Classroom Technology feature this month, we sat down with LapSafe’s Cameron Eccles to talk tech. Classroom technology is more widely available than ever - and it goes without saying that it brings many benefits. But it can still be challenging for schools to manage this technology cost-effectively and sustainably, so we asked Cameron to share some tips.

Continuing the tech theme, this month’s Computing & IT feature sees Nick Shea, Director of Education at IT managed service provider Wavenet, discuss why connectivity is so crucial in the modern classroom - and it goes far beyond internet access. Indeed, if we’re to unlock the full potential of technology in the classroom, we need to start with connectivity.

Meanwhile, Hayden Hibbert, Client Relations Director at allmanhall, makes the case for in-house catering in our Smart Procurement feature; while on the Buildings, Maintenance & Refurbishment side of things, Simone Conti, Senior Project Lead – Education at Arcadis how we can use biophilic architecture to bring pupils closer to nature and mitigate the effects of screentime; and Cat Clarkson, Sustainability Manager at GRAHAM, explores how this sector can achieve a ‘just transition’ to net zero. Elsewhere in the issue you will find all the usual news, views and expert insights - and as ever, we always love to hear from you, so please get in touch via email, or you can reach us @EdTodayMag on X.

Enjoy!
