HEATING
Feeling hot, hot, hot!... T
he bathroom radiator that once just ‘heated up’ the room, has undergone
an enormous transformation in recent years with even the chrome ladder rail being old news. Whilst functionality and efficiency are just as important as ever, bathroom heating now comes in all shapes, sizes, colours, textures and finishes and the ‘designer radiator’ is now a focal point and a multi-functional component as well as a heat generator. Not surprisingly, the popularity of designer

radiators is increasing steadily, and we have seen our own sales for bathroom heating increase by over 20% year-on-year. This is all good news for the retailer as radiators offer a great value-added sell either as a standalone proposition or combined as an integral component of a new bathroom. With such a tremendous opportunity available, retailers should look to display radiators as part of
any room sets as much as possible, to ensure they are included in the overall look and in the mindset of the buying customer. Designer radiators are now widely available,
vertical- or horizontal-shaped and in a wide range of widths and heights, including space-saving solutions for the typically space-challenged, UK bathroom, en-suite or cloakroom. Although almost any colour radiator is available now, bold finishes such as matt black and greys are very popular, and there is still a place for white and chrome models, especially with period styled models, such as our Eterno traditional range. With the radiator’s place now firmly
established as a design element within the bathroom category its potential looks assured too and this will see manufacturers offering a wider variety of innovative heating solutions over the coming years to satisfy growing consumer demand.
Radiating designer style with Bathrooms to Love by PJH
The designer radiator range from PJH’s Bathrooms to Love Collection has been enhanced with the addition of a number of new stylish designs perfect for creating a focal point in the bathroom, as well, of course, for heating the room. Amongst the new models are the Cylindra,
Eterno and Strand designer radiators, all offering varying levels of heat output, in a range of dimensions including space-saving sizes. Sleek and slim, Cylindra, which is ideal for any room within a house, offers a particularly high
energy output of 4524 BTU’s and is suitable for all central heating systems. Available in white and anthracite finishes, Cylindra has a small footprint at just 236mmx1800mm but high heat output. For more traditional bathrooms, the beautifully
designed Eterno radiator combines modern heat engineering with period design – perfect for classically styled rooms. Available in two sizes, a smaller 538x963mm model and wider 673x963mm model, Eterno offers the best of both worlds - heated towel rail and radiator. Heat output is 2046 and 3372 BTU’s respectively and colour finishes include white or grey. Meanwhile, Strand is a great energy efficient
model with a width of 500mm and two height options (960mm / 1165mm). It comes in matt black or stainless steel, and is versatile in that it can be used with central heating, electric and dual fuel systems. The stainless-steel model is up to 15% more conductive than chrome, so saves greater energy.
