AKWBidets – which is best? W
hen the word ‘bidet’ is mentioned, you could be forgiven - if you are of
a certain age - of having visions of avocado- coloured toilet suites! However, bidets have moved on considerably since the 1970’s and ‘80s and there is now one to suit any installation need. Here Stuart Reynolds, UK Marketing & Product Management Director at AKW, a leading provider of inclusive solutions, runs through the top 3 things to consider when looking at bidets.
Permanent or removable? Essentially, there are three basic varieties of bidet: free-standing, built in and over-toilet seat attachments. Depending on the needs and budget of the person needing a bidet, a semi- permanent, rather than permanent solution might be more beneficial. A cost-effective, quick to install and easy to use
and maintain bidet, such as AKW’s Side-Entry Bidet, is ideal for those wanting a non-permanent solution. The AKW Bidet is water mains fed and offers users a range of temperature, water spray and dryer options. Alternatively, for a longer-term seat attachment bidet solution, AKW’s Bottom- Entry Bidet has been designed specifically for use with select pieces of sanitaryware from AKW’s Navlin and Navlin Doc M collections and has a bottom-entry water feed.
Is it a multi-user household? An ideal bidet solution for multi-generational or multi-user households is one that can be adjusted to suit individual users, be they people in wheelchairs, or those of different heights, needs or ages. For such installations, AKW has designed a flexible height Rise & Fall bidet. The height of the pan can be set to meet everyone’s needs, promoting toileting independence. The easily adjustable toilet pan seat height (410mm-610mm height range from finished floor level to top of bidet) can accommodate users of different heights, needs, and ages, and the fold-up arms allow for ease of access (that support up to 18.8st (120kg) each). This bidet also facilitates wheelchair transfers and can help users safely navigate around the bathroom.

Which bidet is best? A bidet is only a success if it can meet a person’s clinical and financial needs. It is recommended therefore, that advice is sought from an occupational therapist or appropriate healthcare professional to ensure that any bidet installation will meet a person’s on-going needs before it is specified. AKW’s Bidet Collection offers users and
installers an extensive range of competitively priced, high quality bidet options that provide modern, discreet toileting solutions. To find out more download AKW’s latest bidet range visit the website.
