INDUSTRY UPDATE

HiB announces the winners of university design project S

tudents taking part in a collaborative project between HiB and the

University of Wolverhampton have been awarded for their creative bathroom product designs.

Four students have received prizes for their

concepts which they developed as part of the project, aimed at inspiring the next generation of designers. Undergraduates from across the university’s Interior Design, Furniture Design and Product Design courses were asked to produce a product that pushed boundaries and went beyond conventional design. The award for the best concept went to

Suphada Dangsuth who was presented with a £500 voucher, with fellow students Rebecca Lewis-Knight, Rebecca Shaw and Adam Heath also winning prizes for their contributions. Steve Kaye, Marketing Director at HiB said: “It

was fantastic to see the creativity and out-of-the- box thinking that came from the students’ presentations. We wanted this project to offer the students the opportunity to work in a product area which they may have not considered and tackle the challenges that come with designing for the bathroom.” Talking about her success in the project, winner

Suphada said: “Dealing with an actual company brief helped me understand how to tackle the design based on customer needs. I enjoyed this stage of the process as it allowed me to explore the current design trends and my inspiration.” For details about the project and HiB visit https://www.hib.co.uk/

Neoperl – Save water – No excuses

Flow regulators control the flow of water, they are precision made devices, manufactured here in the UK by Neoperl and made in hundreds of sizes that can now be retro fitted to taps and showers in the home. Many taps already

include a flow control device at the end of the spout and it’s only when in situ that one can see if the flow is too strong. Now the incumbent device can be easily removed and replaced with one that reduces the flow to a comfortable level to prevent splashing. The same with showers, a valve shower often delivers far too much water and even a slight reduction adds up to a substantial water saving over the year. It’s a really affordable solution to retro fit a flow regulator, people simply

need to be aware that they exist and obtain the right advice as to which regulator to fit to retain adequate performance. Everyone can now do their bit to save water and the energy that heats it.
