their main gripes. With one in five people claiming they don’t like their kitchen, the research also shows that poorly
designed spaces can impact mental health and wellbeing. More than 85% of homeowners said their kitchen impacts their emotional and mental health, while two thirds said if their biggest issue was fixed in the kitchen, it would improve their quality of life. A kitchen that doesn’t meet the needs of the
user can make them feel sad, depressed or anxious, whereas get it right and people reported feeling comfortable, happy, sociable and inspired. And when it comes to their next kitchen, the
top three most important factors homeowners would prioritise are functionality (60%), more or smarter storage (32%), and a better layout (29%). In even the smallest of kitchens, the right
storage can make all the difference. Get the right fixtures, features and fittings to meet the lifestyles of the end users and you can ensure that your customers get the most effective space possible that they can enjoy for years to come.
Häfele launches industry whitepaper on functional kitchen design

äfele UK has launched a new industry whitepaper revealing what
drives homeowners’ buying decisions when it comes to their kitchens, to help studios and designers gain a competitive edge in the industry. Earlier this year, Häfele – which is shortlisted for
the BKU Awards – undertook research with more than 2,000 homeowners to explore kitchens of today – what they’re used for, the biggest pain points, most desired or useful features, and how they impact homeowners day-to-day.
The findings have now been shared in the
whitepaper, which has been drafted in partnership with architect and designer Laura Jane Clark, to provide kitchen studios, designers and installers with advice on how to capture greater market share with great-looking, functional kitchen designs. The launch of the whitepaper comes off the
back of an exclusive online masterclass held by Clark for Häfele’s Studio Partners earlier in the month, with Clark having already delivered two presentations for Häfele on its stand at kbb 2022, at the Birmingham NEC in February.
