Hafele's stylish solutions for home offices T
he year ahead looks full of opportunities for the industry to
support consumers in creating functional and stylish spaces in response to the ever-evolving way we use our homes. Take the home office trend, for example.
Comment by Natalie Davenport Head of Marketing, Häfele UK
Fuelled by the sudden need to work from home due to the pandemic, remote and hybrid- working looks set to remain for many people. In the early days of the pandemic, kitchen and dining spaces were the temporary office for many, with 31% regularly using their dining table and one in ten using kitchen worktops as makeshift desks, according to our research. But now, many consumers want a more permanent solution, with one in five planning to reconfigure an existing room to make a dedicated home office. Storage, technology and adjustable height desks
feature highly on people’s wish lists for the perfect home office, as does effective lighting and the
ability to shut the space away at the end of the day. As a by-product of the rise in home working,
we’re seeing an increase in broken plan living, which splits a space into zones using levels and semi-permanent structures. These structures can take many forms including custom-built bookcases, semi-open partitions, or cabinetry that can be used to house hidden home offices. Sliding and pocket door gear systems are the perfect way to create clever workspaces within the semi-permanent structures that are central to broken-plan living. And the way we’re using and engaging in our
homes is reflected in changing colour trends too. Soft blues, similar to Dulux’s 2022 Colour of the Year, Blue Skies, create a sense of calm and harmony, while greens give us a connection to nature. We’re also seeing a rise in more daring colours such as pinks, yellows, teals and oranges, which bring vibrancy, energy and life into our interiors.
Bring the elements into your home for a high impact finish H
äfele UK has expanded its range of AluSplash aluminium-based
splashbacks with the Elements collection, featuring earth, air, fire and water inspired shades in a luxurious, premium matt design. Available exclusively through Häfele in the UK,
AluSplash is a stylish yet practical alternative to glass, acrylic and tiled splashbacks. Easy to fit, the product is constructed from a flame resistant aluminium surface with a fire resistant mineral core, meaning it can be used behind all hobs and cooktops.
In response to trends, the Elements collection
features eight key colours. Lava Stone and Smoked Ember create drama, while Forest Green and Green Mist cater to the rising popularity of green interiors. Iceberg White complements stronger cabinetry colours, while Midnight Moon injects sumptuousness. There is also Autumn Leaves and Frosted Flora, which takes inspiration from Icelandic fauna. Alongside Elements, Häfele UK has introduced White Carrara, a marble effect in a satin matt finish. s 2017 launch AluSplash has proven to be one of the distributor’s fastest-selling products.
Andrew Billingham, product group manager at Häfele UK, explains: “AluSplash is a win-win product. Homeowners love creating a seamless, high impact finish that’s easy to maintain, and fitters benefit from a simple install. Adding these new options gives retailers a chance to tap into current and emerging trends.”
