CRUK are the only charity dedicated to saving lives through r esear ch of all 200 cancer types. But they need help to do this…

T To continue the support, Dionne Banks, Marketing Manager at Claygate

worked with Sherrill Hawker and her team from Cancer Research to come up with other fundraising ideas. Dionne said “one of the first ideas we had was to fill a bath with spare change, as everyone has a coin pot at home and this seemed like a fantastic suggestion. The Old London bath looked great in Reception, but the task of filling it was a lot harder than we originally thought but we did our best and I was quite surprised when we came to counting the coins , how much was actually in the bottom”.

Claygate decided to open their reception on Friday 29th November, to encourage local businesses to come along and help support Cancer Research in their Rowathon. Earlier in the month, Claygate started the challenge of rowing (virtually) all the way to Penzance, this is the furthest point that they deliver to, approximately 530km from their HQ in Marden, Kent, a tough challenge which they were hoping to have completed by 5pm on Friday 29th November. Colleagues, suppliers and local businesses all helped with the Rowathon. Danny Baker, Claygate’s Health & Safety Officer and part-time

This year Claygate staff have raised £1,500 for Cancer Research, and Claygate has donated £1,000, bringing the grand total to £2,500.

With no government funding, every step towards beating cancer relies on every pound donated. In supporting Cancer Research UK, Claygate played a vital role in the future of cancer cures, helping speed up the progress

Dionne explains “We couldn’t have done this without the support from our staff and suppliers, and in particular a few of my colleagues who were

dedicated to completing the Rowathon. mpleting the Rowathon Danny Baker, Peter Hall and Matt Nye, all rowed the furthest and Matt in particular, rowed over 100Km”.
