The BKU Year in Review 2019 W

elcome to the December issue of BKU magazine. As is traditional at

this time of year, we look back at some of the companies and stories making the news this year, showcasing all that was worthy of celebration in 2019. In June, Quooker scooped the BKU Award for

best kitchen tap for the second year running. This achievement was well deserved – the Quooker truly is a marvellous piece of engineering, with its two 3-in-1 taps, the Fusion and the Flex. Both models deliver cold, hot and boiling water whenever you want. Besides that, the Flex has a flexible pull out hose for hot and cold water, for extra reach in the sink. In November this year, BA Components launched its Blossom Avenue range. With nearly thirty years of experience in the KBB industry, the company launched the new brand to promote its full bedroom and full kitchen offer. Blossom Avenue kitchens and bedrooms are available from the company’s trusted retail partners throughout the UK and Ireland. BA’s CEO, Nick Corlett said, “BA has been

selling its beautiful British kitchens for many years and we constantly strive to be Better Always. Now we are launching an exciting brand that strengthens our dealers’ offer with a strong consumer-centric focus along with supporting marketing activity and social content. Consumers will be spoilt for choice with the opportunity to select from full kitchen and full bedroom collections. Wherever their location, and whatever their space and budget Blossom Avenue can provide the inspiration needed. Our mission is to make Blossom Avenue the most famous address in the KBB industry.”

The launch included a new Blossom Avenue consumer brochure, showcasing its Kitchen and Bedroom collections, designed to make the selection experience even simpler and more enjoyable for consumers. In other supplier news, Aqualla has been

making waves in the brassware sector in 2019. Drawing on many years combined experience in the industry, Aqualla offers a unique range of bathroom components, blending distinctive designs with practicality for both classic and contemporary living. Headquartered in Newtownards, Aqualla is a

local, dedicated team of bathroom brassware specialists pooling many years of experience to service customers throughout Ireland and the UK. By specialising in a niche market within this

region, not only is the company able to offer its customers the very best in product choice, quality and value; with Aqualla, you receive a ‘local’ service from start to finish; from design, marketing and logistics, to sales, customer service and support. In August, RAK Ceramics announced the

opening of its first flagship showroom in the UK. 250sqm in size and featuring a dedicated tile and sanitaryware area showcasing the latest RAK Ceramics products, the Birmingham showroom features a “Room for Imagination” designed to inspire interior designers and architects. RAK Ceramics’ newest collections were on

display including RAK-CLOUD, the latest designer sanitaryware solution designed in collaboration with the Italian designer Giuseppe Maurizio Scutellà. Wall-mounted or wall-hung sanitaryware, elegant freestanding bathtubs and washbasins, softly curved bowls or wall solutions, RAK-

CLOUD, enhances the imagination of the most demanding and visionary interior designers to create beautiful bathrooms. Finally, to round out the year, trade show Sleep

& Eat confirmed its position as Europe’s leading hospitality design and innovation event. Across two days in November, it offered designers, architects, operators and owners a unique chance to hear from the game-changers, to discover new products and expand their thinking, bringing the community together to celebrate the role of great design within the most successful hospitality enterprises around the globe. Over 160 design-led suppliers - established and

up-and-coming manufacturers, artisans and fit-out companies - chose Sleep & Eat 2019 to showcase their products and launch new collections. GROHE, the German supplier of premium

bathroom solutions and kitchen fittings, returned to Sleep & Eat for the 14th year and presented its most eclectic and diverse product offering yet, including its ground-breaking Icon 3D metal- printed taps on their first official UK outing. Meanwhile, both Bette and Kaldewei gave visitors the opportunity to test their materials themselves, with wire brushes, hammers, nail varnish and naked flames. So, with all that excitement in 2019, who

knows what 2020 will hold? We can’t see into the future, but what we can say is that if it’s making waves in the KBB sector in 2020, you’ll hear about it first in BKU magazine! Merry Christmas, and here’s wishing you all a prosperous 2020!
