News Roland Hill steps down as chairman of Contra Vision
Contra Vision has announced that its founder has stepped down as chairman and is transitioning to a new role in the business titled ‘founder and non-executive director’. Roland Hill founded Contra Vision in 1985 following a distinguished career as a structural and civil engineer and throughout his career he created the world’s first commercially viable one-way vision graphics technology. Today, perforated window graphics and other see-through visual communications solutions based on his inventions are produced and used around the world. I look forward to continuing to support the business in my new capacity as non-executive director.” As part of the transition, Roger Hill will assume the role of chairman alongside his existing position as chief executive officer.
The announcement comes at a time of significant momentum for the business and follows Mr Hill’s nomination for the Outstanding Contribution Award at the Print Industry Awards. Since founding Contra Vision more than
40 years ago, Mr Hill’s innovations have been recognised with numerous honours, including the BBC Tomorrow’s World/Prince of Wales Award, three Queen’s Awards for Enterprise, and inclusion in A Hundred Years of British Invention, celebrating some of the UK’s most influential technological achievements.
Elgin International installs new VeloBlade Nexus 2516
Elgin International has said its recent investment in a new VeloBlade Nexus 2516 from Soyang Europe has helped eliminate bottlenecks opened up opportunities into additional markets. Elgin took delivery of the new machine in

February and has already reported the elimination of troublesome bottlenecks and its production speed. As its volume of its work increased, Elgin identified shortfalls in its ability to produce the graphics it needed and went in search of a machine that could increase production capacity while maintaining the fast turnaround times. Elgin decided on the VeloBlade Nexus 2516, a wide-format digital die cutter with a bed size of 2,500×1,600mm, combined with a CNC router, the VeloBlade system enables users to work with stocks up to 25mm in thickness, including Dibond, MDF and acrylic. Joshua Bingham, project manager at Elgin, said: “When we purchased the VeloBlade, the idea wasn’t to change the work we were doing, but to speed it up and reduce the manual handling and trimming that we were doing up until that point. The VeloBlade has done precisely that.”

Full Vision facilitates growth with two EFI purchases
Leading large-format print and event branding provider, Full Vision, has ramped up its UK and European production power with a major EFI technology upgrade supplied by CMYUK. The company has invested in two EFI VUTEk M3h UV LED hybrid printers that will be installed at its purpose-built Essex facility near Stansted Airport. Sam Tanner, chief executive officer at Full
Vision, said: “The EFI investment from CMYUK is all about giving our clients even greater speed, efficiency and capacity as we continue to grow. “We work in a very last-minute world, and our clients need us to say yes, when others cannot. The new EFI M3h printers give us the headroom to keep doing that as volumes increase in the UK and across Europe.” The new M3h printers replace the
