A
Best Campsite in South West Wales, continues to invest in modern and accessible facilities for its guests. The new shower block, powered by the Baxi ASHP solution, forms part of the Council’s wider programme to enhance visitor infrastructure in an environmentally responsible way. Local M&E consultants Pursey
and Ball were appointed to carry out RIBA stages 2 to 7 on the project, overseeing the design, installation and maintenance of the new shower facility, with Baxi providing technical design support as the selected solution provider.
Baxi air source heat pump system is supplying energy-efficient, low-carbon hot
requirements, which comprised a Baxi Auriga HP40 ASHP combined with a 1,000-litre Megaflo Flexistore hot water cylinder This combination ensures a
dependable supply of sanitary hot water for the showers at the facility. Baxi’s specialist engineers commissioned the system and will continue to provide maintenance support to ensure long-term high performance and efficiency.
To meet Welsh Building
Regulations for new-build developments, the hot water system needed to achieve net zero carbon operation while fully complying with CIBSE commissioning standards and layout guidance.
Aiming high Additional considerations included the need to reliably meet the high demand for hot water within the five male,
five female, one family and one accessible shower areas, a good service life expectancy, and low maintenance requirements. Having worked with Baxi for over four decades, Pursey and Ball asked the heating and hot water specialist to look at the various design options. Baxi’s technical sales and
design teams made several visits to site before proposing an all-electric ASHP immersion system tailored to the project
Dream project Mervyn Mayers, director at Pursey and Ball, comments: “This project was a dream from day one. Baxi have taken heat pumps to their heart. They have brought their heating expertise and understanding of hydraulic and modern hydronic systems to their heat pump solutions, which are backed with their signature customer service and backup support. “Given the greater technical
complexity associated with ASHP projects, being able to rely on the experience and support of manufacturers like Baxi will be vital to delivering optimal outcomes.” The new cedar-clad shower

block incorporates a range of eco-friendly features geared towards sustainability, comfort and hygiene. Baxi’s renewable ASHP solution plays a central role, efficiently meeting the high hot-water demand produced by more than 100 visitors during peak periods. Water-saving fixtures and 10kW of solar PV panels further contribute to the net zero operation. ◼
