Dashboard keeps tabs on heat networks Monitoring indoor air quality and well- being through one device

SAV has launched RavenWatch, a monitoring platform developed for UK heat networks. The platform provides a

real-time view of network performance, helping managers identify issues, support preparations for HNTAS (Heat Network Technical Assurance Scheme) compliance and identify opportunities to improve operation. RavenWatch monitors heat pumps, CHPs, electric and gas boilers and other critical assets, alongside measures including return temperature, heat loss, bypass and connectivity. Analysis can be provided from an individual dwelling through to block, site and portfolio level. The dashboard gives

network managers a straightforward view of key performance metrics, highlighting where a network is operating as expected, and where attention may be required.

Indoor air quality can be monitored with WELLSense, a Total Indoor Air Quality Sensor developed by SONTAY. The product combines particulate, gas and environmental sensing within a single device, measuring PM1, PM2.5 and PM10 particulates, carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, total volatile organic compounds, relative humidity and temperature. WELLSense uses BACnet and Modbus

“Heat networks can be

considerably more efficient than the systems they replace, but that performance does not happen automatically. It comes from good design, good operation and the ability to understand what the network is doing. That is the gap RavenWatch has been designed to help close,” says Lukas Fabricius, product manager at SAV. “We wanted RavenWatch

to take something technically complicated and make it useful. You should be

able to open the dashboard and understand how your network is performing, where the opportunities are and what needs attention.” In one 130-home

scheme, monitoring identified two apartments with unusually high bypass flow. Correcting this reduced flow through the apartments from around 130 litres per hour to an average of 4 litres per hour. SAV estimates the resulting reduction in heat loss was worth approximately £6,000 a year. ▄ www.sav-systems.com

communications as standard for integration with building management systems. The data can support ventilation strategies and provide information on indoor environmental conditions, while also helping buildings work towards the WELL Building Standard, a performance-based certification system that focuses on how buildings affect the health and well-being of occupants. The sensor has configurable traffic-light LED indicators, with an optional E-Paper display for viewing environmental information. Setpoint and fan speed functionality are also available as options. “Over the past few years, we have seen a significant increase in conversations around the WELL Building Standard encompassing indoor air quality, occupant wellbeing and healthy building design,” says Stacey Lucas, commercial and marketing director at Sontay. “Customers wanted a solution that could deliver comprehensive environmental monitoring that supports achieving the WELL Building Standard while remaining simple to integrate and intuitive to use. WELLSense has been developed to answer that challenge.” Visitors to Smart Buildings Show 2026 (see pages 18/19) are invited to meet the

Sontay team and experience the new WELLSense devices first-hand. ▄ www.sontay.com
