Callebaut opens Asia-Pacifi c Business Excellence Centre

Callebaut says it has made signifi cant investments in Malaysia and built up their presence in the country, from manufacturing to research and development of high- quality chocolate and cocoa products. “We are proud to provide end-to-end capabilities in the

region, encompassing our cocoa sourcing and logistics centre, our two cocoa and chocolate application labs, our cocoa R&D centre, and our cocoa and chocolate factories,” Callebaut stated.worked closely with its suppliers. Ably assisted by engineers from both Futamura and the bagging machinery company, BW Flexibles, a solution was found that enabled Cocoa Canopy to manufacture at speed and meet demand from its growing customer base.

In January 2023, Barry Callebaut offi cially opened our Asia Pacifi c Business Excellence Centre (APAC BEC) in Petaling Jaya, which will function as a centre of excellence, providing support across the company’s fi nancial and accounting

services, information management and

technology, customer service, and other corporate and shared service functions. The facility is home to more than 100 employees and

is the company’s third site in Malaysia. They also operate a chocolate and cocoa factory in Port Klang and another cocoa factory in Pasir Gudang, Johor, both of which also house a research & development laboratory. One of the main reasons why Callebaut says it set up

this new Centre is to provide a better customer service experience through service optimisation and automation. As they continue to grow in the Region, they say this growth needs to be supported by a strong hub that will focus on improving their processes and effi ciencies. Callebaut commented: “Prior to setting up APAC BEC, our strong customer service,

information management

and fi nance teams were located at our Port Klang factory site, providing shared resources to the region. With this new Center, we are highly confi dent that we can focus on and deliver the highest level of service while attracting the best talent. “When deciding on the location for this Center, Malaysia

topped the chart. Malaysia is a country renowned as a fi nancial and shared services hub, plus it has an extremely strong talent pool. Our existing presence in the country and all these other factors led us to believe that we could build a business excellence centre at pace and scale and deliver an improved customer experience across the Region.” Barry Callebaut has operated in Asia Pacifi c since 1997.

The new APAC BEC in Malaysia underlines their long-term commitment to the Region. Over the last few decades,

Tony’s Chocolonely has launched two much-anticipated new fl avours as part of its Chocolate Love A-Fair with activist ice cream maker Ben & Jerry’s. The launch celebrates values-led business, Ben & Jerry’s, committing to Tony’s Open Chain – announced last summer. The two new Tony’s bars are inspired by two of Ben

& Jerry’s classic fl avours, Chocolate Fudge Brownie and Strawberry Cheesecake. The tasty new bars join Ben & Jerry’s ice cream fl avour,

Chocolatey Love A-Fair, that rolled into freezers during the match-made-in-changemaker-heaven

launch last

summer. The values-packed fl avour is inspired by Tony’s best-selling milk caramel sea salt bar and available in both dairy and non-dairy. The Chocolate Love A-Fair of these two impact

companies, known for their shared passion for social justice, isn’t just a sweet deal for chocolate and ice cream fans – but also for cocoa farmers. Last summer, Ben & Jerry’s joined Tony’s mission to end the 30,000 cases of modern slavery and 1.56 million cases of child labour still present in the chocolate industry in Ghana and Cote d’ Ivoire today by committing to sourcing its cocoa from Tony’s Open Chain. The initiative helps companies take responsibility for

ensuring a fully traceable cocoa supply chain and paying a higher price to address poverty, the root cause of social injustice for cocoa farmers.
