Omlox, the world’s first positioning standard for industry
Omlox is a new open standard enabling integration of all existing technologies such as UWB, BLE, RFID, 5G or GPS to deliver positioning data via a uniform interface. Already adopted by more than 60 industry partners from all over Europe, Asia and the USA, the initiators’ goal is to make it easier for industrial customers to use hardware and software from different vendors. Standard interfaces to connect all products have already been defined, enabling the
location and tracking of forklifts, drones, driverless transport systems or tools from different manufacturers with pinpoint accuracy. Users can even locate devices inside buildings with accuracy down to the millimeter range. The combined use of ultra-precise, robust positioning via ultra-wideband with other
tracking tech is the key to industry positioning technologies. Industrial companies can already start transferring existing standalone solutions into this future-proof, open system.

As most robotic conveyor transport solutions on the market today rely on wifi communication for their operation, any instability in the connection can cause operational inefficiency. A new introduction from RARUK Automation for its range of MiR autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) eliminates this risk. Developed by ROEQ, GuardCom uses proven sensor-based technology innovatively to remove the robot’s reliance on wifi.
GuardCom connects directly with any model of ROEQ top roller modules from RARUK Automation and to the stationary conveyor station. It enables safe, fast, reliable and cost- effective handling and transfer of goods between conveyor stations.
As communication is directly between GuardCom and the top rollers, no complicated and
expensive implementation procedure or third-party system is involved. The basic system comprises of GuardCom and GuardCom Connect which are affixed to the
stationary conveyor station and the top roller unit respectively. A minimum complete solution would require two GuardCom and one GuardCom Connect which would enable the AMR to receive goods from destination A and deliver them to destination B.

2020 Successes for Clearmark Solutions
2020 has been deemed by many as a year that needs to be cancelled. While there are many things we all wish hadn’t happened this year, there are a few things Clearmark Solutions Ltd (also known as Interactive Coding Equipment – ICE within the industry) has to celebrate. In a turbulent year the Clearmark team are
delighted to have received several nominations and award wins! Firstly, the UK coding company has been shortlisted for 2 East Midlands Chamber awards in the categories of “Business Improvement Through Technology” and “Innovation in Manufacturing”. The winners of the 2020 East Midlands Chamber awards will be announced on November 26th via the digital awards ceremony taking place instead of the usual annual ceremony that Clearmark has enjoyed attending several years in a row now.

safeguards against misplaced or dangling goods, by allowing the user to either programme the system to set off an alarm to alert a human operator to remedy the problem or set the rollers to roll back automatically. A physical guard is also provided to stop goods falling off the conveyor station accidentally.
Communication between the GuardCom modules is a secure and safe wireless connection.
GuardCom Connect signals to the stationary conveyor station through the GuardCom that the AMR is in place and ready to receive or deliver goods. The guard is then lowered so transfer can commence. Once the process has been completed the AMR receives another signal to move on to other stations.
GuardCom has been designed to be plug-and-play so it is quick and easy to set up; no costly commissioning time is required. And because GuardCom is a small unit with sensor technology that connects directly with the stationary conveyor station it occupies minimal space by comparison to other solutions. Overall, the system lowers the barrier to automation for any manufacturer or logistics company thanks to its simplicity and low cost.
