Best choice for zinc-flake coated fasteners
Henkel’s LOCTITE® 2400 and 2700, popular WRAS- approved thread lockers in the company’s Health and Safety range of hazard-label-free engineering adhesives, have just been relaunched with enhanced credentials. Both now include patented cure chemistry that also ensures optimum performance on anti- corrosion, zinc-flake coated fasteners and passive substrates such as stainless steel and zinc dichromate. Zinc-flake coated fasteners are becoming a common choice over zinc-plated and chrome-
based alternatives because they are more resistant to corrosion, safer to manufacture and do not carry the risk of hydrogen embrittlement than can compromise load bearing capacity. Their zinc flake coating oxidises sacrificially so that the fastener itself remains corrosion free. LOCTITE 2400 and 2700 have therefore been re-formulated to complement this technology, enabling their use for an even wider range of applications.

44 NOVEMBER 2020 | FACTORY&HANDLINGSOLUTIONS
Union Industries, the UK’s leading manufacturer of high-speed industrial doors, has completed the supply and installation of three of its rugged Bulldoor rapid action roller doors at RBOrganic in Peterborough. The Leeds-based company manufactured, supplied and installed the doors for the facility,
which handles tonnes of high-quality fresh produce every week including speciality potatoes and roots such as carrots and parsnips, all which are farmed locally. Established in 1898 by the Burgess family, RBOrganic has evolved into a specialist organic
farming facility, which grows and supplies a wide range of high-quality fresh vegetables in collaboration with a series of select farming partners. Quality and ethical farming is high on the agenda for the fifth generation of Burgess
farmers, many of the crops are tended by hand, and wildlife strips are in place to actively encourage wildlife into the fields to protect the crops from unwanted insects. The new Bulldoors will replace existing doors in the Peterborough distribution facility that
were outdated, damaged, and proving increasingly difficult to repair. Known as the ‘reliable workhorse’ of rapid roll doors, the Bulldoors were chosen for their
robustness and reliability. Although widely used in many different applications throughout all industry types, it is especially recognised in retail distribution for extremely high traffic use openings between chilled and ambient environments. All three of the Bulldoors, which are designed for both internal and external use, will serve
to protect from extreme weather conditions including potential storm damage to the exterior of the building. One of the doors in particular will provide access for FLT traffic through the chilled loading dock areas to packaging and distribution areas, where the volume traffic is high, moving produce in preparation for shipment to supermarket chains and distributors. Tanya Leonard, Head of Organic Operations for RBOrganic, said: “Having seen an uplift in
business over recent months it was essential that we invested in a product that would prove reliable and of high quality. The Bulldoor is a tried and tested product and working with Union Industries and its commitment to quality meant that its engineers delivered and installed the three doors in line with our own high standards.” Rob Howe, Technical Sales Engineer for Union Industries, said: “The installation of three
Bulldoors at RBOrganic has given us the opportunity to demonstrate both the robust quality of our high speed industrial doors”.
